Description

I. Project Background

The project requires an expert trainer to equip participants, young men (18-25) and women (18-49) with essential technical and business skills necessary to launch or manage small enterprises in the local agricultural and food processing sectors. The instruction must prioritize clarity and simplicity, targeting a mixed audience with no prior exposure to business or agriculture. Three trainers are required: one for Fallujah, one for Sinjar/Sinuni, one for Sumel with the same ToR.

II. Objectives & Outcomes

The objective is to enable trainees to acquire the foundational skills required to successfully run a small agricultural or food processing business.

III. Scope of Work

The assignment is expected to last 30 days, including preparation, delivery of training sessions, mentorship and reporting.

 

A. Content Development

  1. Develop a high-impact, 5-day training plan, agenda, and simple methodology in coordination with the Project Team:
  2. Allocate 3 days for Technical Agri-Food content and 2 days for Business/entrepreneurship content. Content of the training should focus on but not be limited to technical topics such as greenhouse production, climate-adapted family gardens, food processing; packaging techniques; and on business topics such as basic accounting to manage and plan micro-investments; basic financial literacy, costing, pricing, and bookkeeping, business plan development; entrepreneurial mindset and leadership.
  3. Ensure all materials, handouts, and presentations are written simply and clearly, specifically adapting to an audience with no prior business and agriculture skills.
  4. Prepare/adapt all training materials in English, Arabic and Kurdish in the form of a PowerPoint presentation and a booklet form that will be given to the trainees.

B. Training Delivery

  1. Deliver the full 5-day training program.
  2. Maintain an interactive, participatory environment to encourage proper participation and questions.
  1. Manage two groups daily, teaching the identical material to each:
  • Group 1: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Group 2: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

 

C. Monitoring & Reporting

  1. Administer and analyze pre- and post-tests for all participants.
  2. Provide daily attendance sheets.
  3. Submit a single, comprehensive final report detailing the methodology, achievements, challenges, and future recommendations.
  4. Share all final training materials and tools.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Educational Background: minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, agriculture, business administration or related field
  • Mandatory Expertise: Proven, successful experience of at least two years in delivering training related to agriculture, food processing, and small business start-up.
  • Preference for candidates with academic lecturers’ background and/or experience working with NGOs in training youth and women.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chain and local market systems.
  • Proven ability to explain complex topics using understandable and simple language. Strong operational command of Arabic and Kurdish is mandatory.
  • Must have a proven record of successfully giving training in the mentioned fields.
