MAIN OBJECTIVE:
The assignment aims to strengthen the personal, social, and professional life skills of agricultural farmers in Shekhan and Sumel districts. The training will support farmers to improve communication, problem-solving, teamwork, decision-making, time management, and adaptability, contributing to more effective participation in livelihood activities, trainings, and community-based economic initiatives. In addition, the training will promote social cohesion by encouraging positive interaction, mutual respect, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence among farmers from different backgrounds and communities.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Develop life skills training materials (curriculum and power point) tailored to the context of agricultural farmers, in coordination with the AVSI technical team.
- Deliver a 5-day life skills training program for 100 farmers, covering the following key areas:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Teamwork, collaboration, and conflict management
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Time management and work planning
- Stress management and personal resilience
- Self-confidence, motivation, and goal setting
- Social cohesion, community cooperation, and peaceful coexistence
- Respect for diversity, inclusion, and constructive dialogue within farming communities
- Facilitate participatory and interactive training sessions using group work, discussions, role plays, and practical exercises that encourage collaboration, trust-building, and positive relationships among participants.
- Ensure the training is inclusive, gender-sensitive, and accessible, with special attention to women farmers and vulnerable groups.
- Submit a final training report.
STUDIES REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in Social Sciences, psychology, sociology, or related fields.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Experience of working with vulnerable people. Ability to engage young people.
- Awareness of the issues facing people living on their own and supported accommodation.
- Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, housing legislation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings.
- Ability to positively work within a diverse team and provide support to other colleagues.
- Experience in identifying risk and protective factors and transferring to risk assessment.
- Competence in in business development will be consider as an asset.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Languages: Working knowledge of Kurdish, proficiency in Arabic. English language is preferred.
IT skills: Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Exchange).
Excellent communication skills in building relationships with local contacts.
Well-developed interpersonal and team skills and proven ability to be flexible and sensitive in demanding situations; passion for working with others.
Good understanding of, and commitment to, gender equity.
