MAIN OBJECTIVE:
The assignment aims to strengthen the financial literacy of agricultural farmers in Shekhan and Sumel districts by enhancing their knowledge and practical skills in basic financial management. The training will support farmers to better manage farm income and expenses, make informed financial decisions, improve savings practices, and strengthen their ability to plan and sustain their agricultural businesses.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct a rapid assessment to identify farmers’ existing knowledge, gaps, and challenges related to financial literacy and farm financial management.
- Develop simplified, practical, and farmer-friendly training materials (curriculum, power point) tailored to the needs regarding financial literacy, in coordination with the AVSI technical team.
- Deliver a 7-day financial literacy training program covering the following key areas:
- Introduction to financial literacy and its importance for farmers
- Basic record keeping for farm income and expenses
- Household and farm budgeting
- Understanding costs, revenues, and profit calculation
- Cash flow management for agricultural activities
- Savings, financial planning, and risk management
- Introduction to financial services (loans, credit, and basic banking concepts)
- Facilitate participatory and practical training sessions, including group work, exercises, and real-life examples relevant to farmers in Shekhan and Sumel districts.
- Ensure the training is inclusive, with special attention to women farmers and vulnerable groups.
- Design pre- and post-training assessments to measure improvements in financial knowledge and skills.
- Submit a final training report.
STUDIES REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field.
Districts: 1 in Shekhan and 1 in Sumel – Duhok Governorate
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3 years of working experience in economic recovery and livelihood support programs.
Experience with small businesses, entrepreneurial projects, community business support, or agricultural and food production.
Experience in dealing with vulnerable and muti-cultural groups.
Experience in supporting individuals with variant levels of education.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills in Arabic and Kurdish language.
IT skills: Ability to effectively use standard office software, such as MS Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Exchange).
Knowledge of the main actors/ service providers (banks, business angels, financial support programs).
