The Media Officer supports Aid Gate Organization’s communication and visibility efforts by producing high-quality media content, documenting project activities, and ensuring consistent and professional representation of AGO across all communication channels. The role focuses on field-based media coverage in Basra, working closely with project teams, partners, and the Communications Department.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Content Creation & Media Production

Capture high-quality photos and videos of project activities, beneficiaries, events, and field visits in Basra.

Conduct interviews with beneficiaries, staff, and stakeholders in accordance with AGO communication and safeguarding policies.

Produce short video reports, reels, and visual stories suitable for social media and donor reporting.

Edit photos and videos using AGO-approved standards and branding guidelines.
-
Ensure all content meets ethical guidelines and protection standards, especially when photographing beneficiaries.
B. Documentation & Reporting

Draft media reports summarizing field achievements, success stories, and project highlights.

Prepare captioned photos and structured media files for internal and external use.

Maintain an organized archive of all media materials, ensuring proper labeling and metadata.

Support the development of monthly, quarterly, and final media documentation for donors when requested.
C. Communication & Visibility

Support AGO’s visibility strategy by creating content aligned with donor and organizational branding.

Assist in designing visibility materials such as banners, brochures, flyers, and social media posts.

Ensure implementation of donor visibility requirements during field activities.

Monitor AGO’s presence on social media and provide content suggestions to enhance engagement.
D. Coordination & Field Support

Coordinate with field teams to plan coverage of activities and events.

Work closely with the Communications Manager to align content with organizational priorities.

Support project teams in Basra by documenting training, awareness sessions, distributions, and outreach activities.

Represent AGO during media-related field missions in a professional and ethical manner.
E. Safeguarding & Compliance

Strictly comply with AGO’s Safeguarding, PSEA, Child Protection, and Code of Conduct policies.

Ensure written consent is obtained from beneficiaries before taking photos or videos.

Uphold confidentiality and data protection standards while handling media files.
-
Report any safeguarding concerns to the designated focal point immediately.
Education
-
Bachelor’s degree in Media, Journalism, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Equivalent professional experience may be accepted.
Professional Experience
-
Minimum 2 years of experience in media production, communications, or related roles—preferably within NGOs or development projects.
-
Proven experience in photography, videography, and video editing.
-
Experience working in field environments and with diverse communities.
Skills & Competencies
-
Strong photography and videography skills (portfolio required).
-
Proficiency in editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, CapCut).

Strong writing skills in Arabic; English writing is an asset.

Good knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to travel within Basra and nearby areas.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
Languages

Arabic: Excellent (required)
