Description

Shareteah Humanitarian Organization (SHO) is an Iraqi National NGO promoting safety & development through mine action and explosive ordnance risk education (EORE)awareness, and clearance of mines, explosives and remnants of war.to assistance for people affected by armed conflict. Founded in 2016, SHO has organized & executed programs throughout Iraq. including the provinces of Nineveh, Duhok, Kirkuk, Tikrit, Anbar, and Baghdad. It currently holds offices in Duhok and Mosul.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

The Finance Manager will establish and maintain SHO’s financial integrity by developing policies, leading budgeting, managing donor funds, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This role oversees financial reporting Preparations of days books up to balance sheets, bank reconciliation, updating assets register, audits, and cash flow management while supporting strategic decisions and training staff. The Finance Manager will work closely with SHO’s senior management team to align financial strategies with organizational goals, manage risks, and lead the finance team to ensure ethical and effective financial operations. The Finance Manager will report directly to the Director of SHO

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and Implement Financial Policies: Establish and enforce comprehensive financial policies and procedures to ensure organizational financial integrity and compliance.
  • Oversee Budgeting and Financial Planning: Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to align with strategic objectives and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Manage Donor Funds: Ensure the proper management and allocation of donor funds, maintaining strict compliance with grant requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements and reports to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate Audits: Organize and oversee internal and external audits, managing relationships with auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • Ensure Accounting System Integrity: Monitor and verify that the accounting system is consistently and accurately used by staff, ensuring it remains up-to-date. Regularly review the system's functionality and promptly report any issues or discrepancies to senior management.
  • Monitor Cash Flow and Risk Management: Continuously monitor cash flow, identify financial risks, and implement strategies to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Provide Financial Training: Deliver targeted financial training and support to project managers, enhancing their financial acumen and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate on Financial Strategy: Work closely with the executive team to develop and implement financial strategies that support SHO’s long-term goals.
  • Oversee Payroll and Benefits: Ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing and benefits administration, maintaining compliance with legal requirements.
  • Maintain Financial Records: Keep detailed and accurate financial records, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with SHO and legal standards.
  • Develop Internal Controls: Establish and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard SHO’s assets and prevent financial mismanagement.
  • Support Fundraising with Financial Analysis: Provide financial data and analysis to support fundraising efforts, ensuring accurate and compelling financial narratives.
  • Ensure Timely Reporting: Guarantee the timely and accurate submission of financial reports to donors and stakeholders, meeting all reporting requirements.
  • Manage Financial Contracts: Oversee the financial aspects of contracts and agreements, ensuring they are executed in alignment with SHO’s objectives and budgets.
  • Supervise and Mentor Finance Staff: Lead, supervise, and mentor the finance team across SHO, fostering professional development and ensuring high performance and provide constructive feedback
  • Stay Informed on Financial Trends: Continuously update knowledge on financial trends, regulations, and best practices in the non-profit sector to enhance SHO’s performance.
  • Assist in Budget Development: Collaborate in the creation of organizational and projects budgets.
  • Strategic plan: Assit in developing strategic planning by ensuring that finance strategic objectives are align with strategic goals and resource availability.
  • Grant Management: Actively manage and monitor the financial aspects of grants, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements. Ensure that grant funds are utilized effectively and that all financial obligations are met.
  • Financial Risk Assessment: Regularly conduct financial risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in the financial management processes and develop strategies to address these risks.
  • Liaison with External Stakeholders: Serve as the primary financial liaison with external stakeholders, including donors, banks, and financial institutions, to ensure transparent and effective communication regarding financial matters.
  • Cash Management: Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize cash flow, reduce costs, and ensure the availability of funds when needed.
  • Asset Management: Oversee the management and tracking of the organization's physical and financial assets, ensuring proper documentation and safeguarding against loss or theft.
  • Contingency Planning: Develop and maintain financial contingency plans to ensure the organization can continue to operate in the event of unforeseen financial challenges.
  • Stakeholder Reporting: Develop and deliver comprehensive financial presentations and reports for the Board of Directors, senior management, and other key stakeholders to inform strategic decisions.
  • Ethical Standards and Compliance: Ensure that all financial activities adhere to the highest International Accounting standards and that any potential conflicts of interest or ethical concerns are promptly addressed.
  • Computerized accounting systems: Ensuring that all accounting transaction are posted into ledgers and days books to complete double entry accounting systems using computerized accounting software-QuickBooks. Training of all finance team and senior management how to uses SHO computerized accounting systems to be specific QuickBooks.
  • Any other tasks required by the line manager.
