Job Description:

Brief description of the organization

Yazda is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2014 in response to the genocide committed by the self-declared Islamic State (“IS”) against the Yazidis and other communities in Iraq and Syria. Since its inception, Yazda has worked with local and international partners to provide Yazidi survivors, IDPs, and refugees with humanitarian, accountability, and advocacy services in their post-genocide recovery. Yazda has been working in Iraq since October 2014 and operates out of the main offices in Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and out of the Sinoni office in Sinjar in Nineveh Province. Yazda is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States and is registered in Erbil, Baghdad, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and Australia.

Introduction: Yazda seeks to hire a Case Management Officer to join our team in Duhok within our project called TJR to provide the Psycho-social support(PSS) to the male and female survivors.

Programming

Main responsibilities and tasks:

  • Handle case assignments, draft service plans, review case progress, and determine case closure.
  • Coordinate with other relevant NGOs, the Directorate of Survivors Affairs, or governmental organizations to determine services available for each case in case of need for external referral.
  • Follow the official referral processes utilizing the inter-agency referral pathway.
  • Help beneficiaries achieve wellness and autonomy.
  • Assess and address motivational and psychosocial issues, including basic stabilization techniques.
  • Conduct assessments to determine the appropriate level of care.
  • Reduce stigma and shame by facilitating general psychoeducation /awareness.
  • Create social support through the community among the beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate activities regarding psychosocial support through individual/group sessions and recreational activities.
  • Record case information and complete all necessary forms accurately.
  • Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensure confidentiality and privacy for all beneficiaries.

General

  • Track, record, and monitor beneficiary targets to ensure proposal objectives and targets are met.
  • Support data management and reporting processes in accordance with donor requirements.
  • Adhere to professional standards outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations including PSEA, safeguarding, and the Yazda Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure confidentiality and privacy for all beneficiaries.
  • Make first contact with survivors, assess their level of needs, and complete all documentation needed.
  • Ensure support is carried out in line with internal SOPs and best practice standards and meet the individual needs of survivors on a case-by-case, including survivors of gender-based violence and children who have experienced trauma.
  • Carry out a follow-up with the survivor and provide internal and external referrals through safe and confidential referral pathways.
  • Ensure open and transparent feedback mechanisms by conducting satisfaction surveys with survivors and feeding this information back to management for accountability measures and improvement of service delivery.
  • Complete any other task assigned by the Project manager within the scope of the project.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the situation in Sinjar
  • Strong knowledge of Human Rights.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Kurdish (Kurmanji), Arabic (obligatory) and English (desired).
