
Overview
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.
This project, in its second year, is aimed fostering livelihoods and employment of Dhi Qar Governorate, focusing on the natural and cultural heritage of the area.
UPP is seeking a Grants Management Assistant who will provide key support to the administrator, field coordinator and project manager in day-to-day oversight of grants to start-ups and entrepreneurs, understanding and adhering to internal UPP procedures and donor requirements. S/he will ensure effective monitoring and compliance of grants and will manage relationships with beneficiaries.
Responsibilities
- Management of the grants implementation unit on a daily basis to achieve the performance indicators according to the work plan;
- Providing regular guidance and advice to the grant receivers, assessment and evaluation of their performance; provision of on-going feedback to UPP personnel;
- Financial and substantive monitoring and evaluation of the grants, identification of operational and financial problems, development of solutions;
- Timely preparation and submission of progress reports and financial reports to the UNDP management;
- Identify and share best practices in implementation and management of grants;
- Other tasks as requested by the Project Manager
Education:
- Relevant University Degree and/or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-year experience in working with NGOs/UN agencies.
- Previous administration experience.
- Demonstrated field-based experience with grants.
- Outstanding motivational skills and ability to enthuse teams and partners
- Attention to detail and preciseness
- Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
- Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
Knowledge:
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Self-reliant and able to work independently.
- Strong literacy in Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel
- Personal integrity and credibility
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Reporting skills
Languages:
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written Arabic and English.
