
Overview
Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.
This project is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), developed as a cross-sector intervention in partnership with 2 other INGOs. Based on its background, UPP is responsible for the Health sector, with the aim of improving access and quality of health services for vulnerable communities and returnees in the Governorate of Nineveh.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and awareness activities on mental health, maternal and child health and prevention of infectious diseases under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator;
- Provide consistent information to the population on the services offered by UPP;
- Conduct individual PFA sessions
- Conduct door to door visits to raise awareness about the services available in the location of interventions
- Conduct workshops organized in the health cetners on specific topics related to reproductive and maternal health.
- Maintain contacts with services users and facilitate the connection with available and complementary services on the ground.
Reporting
- Regularly adds information to project database through the provided tablets;
- Comply with UPP activities reporting rules on the project and collect all the reporting evidence that the activities were conducted.
- Participate regularly to supervision sessions with the Medical Coordinator.
Education:
- University degree or diploma in relevant fields
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ of relevant experiences.
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in working in a clinical setting.
- Understanding of legal framework of humanitarian operations, as well as gender, protection, social or human vulnerability issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
- Attention to detail and preciseness
- Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure
- Cultural awareness and ability to build relationships quickly with a wide variety of people.
- Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with medical database.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Literacy in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Personal integrity and credibility
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
- Excellent reactivity and flexibility in all circumstances
- Knowledge of using Kobo forms on tablets.
- Reporting skills.
Languages:
Excellent communication skills verbal and written Arabic and English. Fluency in Kurdish is highly preferred.
