Reporting structure

The Team Leader reports to Supervisor.

 

Detailed Responsibilities

 

The team leader is responsible for all members of his team, and must ensure that:

 

  • He has an excellent knowledge of all mines/ and when relevant, ordnance in theatre
  • He is fully conversant with the supervisor plan of clearance for all clearance for all tasks.
  • He is fully conversant with SOP’s, drills and procedures and Render Safe Procedures
  • All team members understand and adhere to SOP’s and drills and procedures
  • That he is in full control of the site, its layout and all personnel on his site.
  • All team members are correctly briefed, informed and understand their responsibilities and duties at the start of each working day
  • All team members safely and correctly carry out their duties in compliance with SOP’s
  • The team is at the right place at the right time, carrying out their duties efficiently and effectively
  • The team members are wearing the correct protective clothing for the task
  • That the team has the correct serviceable equipment, stores and materials for the task
  • All equipment and materials are monitored, and used correctly.
  • That the medical orderly is fully briefed on the CASEVAC plan and that the medic is positioned correctly throughout the minefield clearance.
  • He is in control of all demolitions carried out by his team in compliance with SOP’s.
  • He is in control of all demolitions on his site and keeps a written record of all explosives and explosive accessories drawn, held, and expended during operations.
  • All unsuccessful demolitions and misfires are recorded and reported to the supervisor.
  • Liaising with the camp/office manager regarding team’s logistical requirements.
  • Liaising with all the local population during the task.
  • He is responsible for the maintenance of the mine field files of all accurate reporting and recording of clearance conducted by the team.
  • He maintains discipline throughout his team.
  • He monitors the security situation in the area of his site and keeps the Supervisor informed of any changes/developments.
  • He must record daily attendance of all personnel in his charge. (Including medics and drivers).
  • He records the daily activities of his team and submits a weekly report to his Supervisor.
  • He liaises with other Team Leaders when necessary.
  • He carries out a minimum at 10% random quality assurance checks daily, and signs for vehicle fuel usage.
  • That he carries out any other operational/administrative duties as directed to meet operational requirements.
  • The Team Leader is not the line manager of the medics or drivers, but is responsible for managing them on a day to day basis when they are attached to his team. Any problems should be reported to the direct line manager.
  • He should be able to drive MAG owned cars for operations purposes.

  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.
  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be required.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Person selection criteria

  • The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
  • An understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work.
  • The candidate should have Demining/EOD experience.
  • The candidate should be educated to diploma level.
  • Valid driving license is desirable
  • The candidate should have and (if needed) attend and pass TL course.
  • The candidate should have EOD Level 2 and EOD Level 3 certificate.

Salary: 2079609 IQD or its equivalent in USD at CBI rate
