Description

Context/Reporting line:

Under the general guidance of the Head, Mobility Pathways and Inclusion Unit, the overall supervision of the Protection Coordinator, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of National Protection Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the timely and effective implementation of protection unit field activities, including needs assessments, mapping of CSOs, and extending support to them.
  2. Engage with civil society organizations to identify their protection capacity-building needs, participate in preparation and delivery of technical training on topics such as protection mainstreaming, safe identification and referrals, data protection, PSEA, accountability to affected populations, and support discussions on transitioning aid to local actors.
  3. Engage with Civil Society Organizations to identify capacity building needs, participate in the preparation and delivery of technical and capacity-building training for CSOs on protection topics such as protection mainstreaming, safe identification and referrals, data protection, PSEA, and accountability to affected populations, etc...
  4. Prepare regular progress reports and updates on capacity building activities, protection activities achievements and challenges related to project implementation and CSO engagement.
  5. Conduct regular follow-up with CSOs to monitor the implementation of protection-related activities and assess their adherence to international best practices and minimum standards.
  6. Support the implementation of community-led protection activities and promote community ownership and sustainability.
  7. Support the development of referral service mapping and provide regular updates on changes to services available.
  8. Conduct protection monitoring by collecting high quality information through direct observation, focus group and community discussions, and key informant interviews in accordance with IOM’s guidelines and SOPs. Support the identification and analysis of protection issues and trends; 
  9. Provide comprehensive case management services in accordance with IOM guidelines and SOPs.
  10. Ensure all protection activities and cases are individually documented, filed, and up to date in IOM SharePoint.
  11. Carry out any delegated activities as assigned by the line manager or senior management at the field
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, social work, social sciences or any relevant field from an accredited academic university or institute with 3 years of relevant professional experience or;
  • Completed high school Diploma degree with 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience, in protection
  • Experience in providing direct assistance to
  • Experience in working within challenging
  • Experience in organizing events, workshops, and
  • Experience with raising awareness in the public domain.
  • Experience working with governmental, non-governmental institutions and UN agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination, and safety of clients at all times.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties (required).
  • Ability to organize work, work independently and prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail (required).
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, and Arabic is required.
  • Knowledge of Kurdish language is an advantage.
