JOB DESCRIPTION
Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is seeking a results-oriented and experienced Project Manager to lead the implementation of a comprehensive livelihoods and agricultural development project in Al Lamyia, Maysan Governorate. The project involves the distribution of livestock (goats and cows), seeds, and fodder to vulnerable households, provision of training through technical experts, and construction of a local mill. The Project Manager will be responsible for the effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of the project while leading a multidisciplinary field team, including a Civil Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Project Assistant and Veterinarian. This role requires strong leadership, coordination, and technical oversight to ensure high-quality delivery and lasting impact for beneficiary communities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the overall design, implementation, and management of the project in alignment with AGO and donor standards.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the project’s technical team, including the Civil Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Project Assistant and Veterinarian.
- Oversee the distribution of livestock, seeds, and fodder, and ensure proper documentation and accountability.
- Ensure technical training activities are effectively delivered by specialized trainers in animal husbandry, sustainable agriculture, and fodder production.
- Manage the construction process of the mill, working closely with the Civil Engineer to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion.
- Develop detailed implementation plans, budgets, and procurement requests in coordination with relevant departments.
- Ensure effective monitoring of activities and outputs, working closely with the MEAL team to track progress and impact.
- Coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, NGOs, and other stakeholders to maintain strong relationships and community trust.
- Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of narrative and financial reports.
- Manage project risks, resolve implementation challenges, and adapt activities as needed to respond to changing circumstances.
- Ensure staff adherence to AGO policies, safety protocols, and humanitarian principles.
- Promote teamwork, mentorship, and capacity building for field staff under your supervision.
- Represent the organization in relevant coordination forums at the district and governorate levels.
COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in agriculture, Rural Development, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing complex, multi-sectoral projects in rural or humanitarian settings.
- Strong background in livelihoods, agriculture, livestock, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams of technical staff and ensuring integrated project delivery.
- Excellent project planning, time management, and organizational skills.
- High proficiency in Arabic; working knowledge of English is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in multicultural and remote settings.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.

- Deep understanding of community-based agricultural and livestock programming.

- Commitment to inclusivity, gender equality, and accountability to affected populations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project tracking tools
