Description

Context/Reporting line:

In the framework of supporting IOM Iraq’ Protection Division, the Disability and Inclusion Assistant will focus on providing necessary reasonable accommodation and support to the Diversity and Inclusion Associate Officer. Under the overall supervision of the Head, Protection Division and the direct supervision of the Diversity and Inclusion Associate Officer, the Project Assistant (Disability and Inclusion) will be responsible for the following duties:

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Diversity and Inclusion (DI) Associate Officer in daily work-related tasks, including administrative, communication, and coordination duties.
  2. Assist the DI Associate Officer in navigating to and from work, residence, meeting venues, office building, field sites, and ensuring necessary accessibility accommodations are arranged for transportation and site visits
  3. Assist in the logistical preparation for meetings, workshops, and trainings, ensuring physical and digital environments are navigable.
  4. Assist the DI Associate Officer in navigating internal and external digital portals, websites, applications, and communication platforms; including preparing Travel Requests (TRs), obtaining security clearances, and coordinating all necessary logistical and procurement arrangements.
  5. Provide assistance demanding tasks such as digitizing printed information through scanning, reformatting, and converting hardcopy documents into electronic formats, organizing paper files, and verifying physical items or arrangements, according to the IOM’s organizational regulations and processes.
  6. Participate in basic orientation or training on disability inclusion, visual impairment support, and accessibility best practices when provided.
  7. Liaison with administrative tasks related to housing, transportation and documentation.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic university or institute with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience, or:
  • Completed high school diploma degree with at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working with persons with visual impairments or disabilities is required.
  • Proficiency with screen readers, magnification software, and accessibility features in operating systems and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Familiarity with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) digital portals and platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with administrative and logistical processes in the international organization for migration (IOM) is preferred.
  • Training or knowledge in orientation and mobility (O&M) techniques is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Respectful, patient, and adaptable to changing needs.
  • Commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic is required.
