JOB DESCRIPTION

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is looking for a proactive and organized Project Assistant to support the implementation of a multi-sectoral livelihoods and agricultural support project in Al Lamyia, Maysan Governorate. The Project Assistant will work closely with the Project Manager and technical team, including the Civil Engineer, Agriculture Engineer, and Veterinarian, to facilitate day-to-day field operations. This includes beneficiary coordination, data collection, logistical support, and documentation of project activities such as livestock distribution, seed and fodder delivery, training sessions, and mill construction. The Project Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the project runs smoothly and efficiently at the community level.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Project Manager and technical team in planning and coordinating field activities across all project components.
  • Support in the preparation and distribution of materials such as livestock, seeds, and fodder to beneficiaries.
  • Liaise with community leaders, local authorities, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth communication and coordination.
  • Collect, compile, and file attendance sheets, beneficiary lists, photos, and other documentation during field activities.
  • Help organize training sessions, awareness campaigns, and meetings by preparing venues, materials, and participant coordination.
  • Provide logistical support during the construction of the mill and other infrastructure works.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of field activities, identifying any delays or challenges.
  • Work closely with MEAL team to support data collection, post-distribution monitoring, and beneficiary feedback.
  • Translate documents and provide interpretation between Arabic and English (if required).
  • Maintain close communication with the field team and support their administrative needs (e.g., forms, reports, schedules).
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures in all activities.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or relevant technical staff.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a field or project support role, preferably within humanitarian or development projects.
  • Experience working in rural communities and facilitating field-based logistics and coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in data collection and documentation.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with mobile data collection tools is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Arabic; English communication skills preferred.
  • Ability to work in remote areas and travel frequently within the project location.
