Brief description of the organization
Yazda Iraq is a local organization registered in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It operates as a subsidiary of the global Yazda organization and adheres to the same mission: supporting vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by genocide and mass atrocities. In Iraq/KRI, Yazda implements programs focused on advocacy, legal assistance, humanitarian aid, and community and survivor empowerment initiatives. The Country Director leads these efforts, ensuring they align with organizational goals and respond effectively to local needs.
Background
This consultancy is part of Yazda’s Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) Project, which delivers integrated NCD and MHPSS services to conflict-affected and returnee communities in Sinjar. the consultancy aims to strengthen internal MHPSS capacity through Training Trainers (ToT) on WHO Problem Management Plus (PM+), ensuring that the Mental Health Counselor is fully equipped to deliver PM+ interventions and contribute to future internal capacity building. The assignment includes clinical supervision of the first five PM+ cases, ensuring quality, fidelity to the model, and ethical practice. This work aligns with WHO PM+ protocols, SV-adapted guidelines, and Iraq Ministry of Health national strategies, where chronic illness and mental health are recognized as national health priorities.
Job Purpose
The PM+ ToT Trainer and Clinical Supervisor will deliver a one-week PM+ Training of Trainers (ToT) for Yazda’s Mental Health Counselor, followed by structured clinical supervision during implementation of the first five PM+ individual cases, including follow-up sessions. The consultant will ensure the correct application of PM+, strengthen facilitation and training skills, and support quality service delivery through case-based supervision.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a 5-day PM+ Training of Trainers (ToT) based on the WHO PM+ individual protocol.
- Ensure the ToT equips the counselor with both implementation and basic training/facilitation skills.
- Adapt PM+ materials and examples to the Sinjar context and Yazda’s MMU service model.
- Provide all required training manuals, tools, and session plans.
- Provide clinical supervision for the Mental Health Counselor during the first five PM+ cases, including follow-up sessions.
- Conduct structured case reviews, reflective supervision, and feedback sessions.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards, client safety, confidentiality, and informed consent.
- Support proper documentation, case notes, and reporting in line with Yazda and donor requirements.
- Identify capacity gaps and provide practical recommendations for ongoing supervision and quality assurance.
- Submit a final consultancy report summarizing ToT outcomes, supervision findings, and recommendations.

- Very good communication skills
- Proven experience in clinical supervision, case review, and mentoring of mental health practitioners.
- Experience working within integrated PHC–MHPSS models is a strong asset.
- University degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Counseling, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
