Accountabilities:

• Ensure the implementation and adherence to all MSF protocols in the areas of; obstetrical and newborn care, postnatal care, transfusion care, surgical pre and post operative care, sexual gender-based violence care, contraceptive and family planning care, infection prevention and control standards, and basic gynaecological care.
• Facilitate the triaging of all obstetrical and gynaecological patients, show proficiency in identification of high-risk patients (red and yellow) cases that require immediate assessment. Able to show ability to take vital signs, measure SFH, auscultate fetal heart rate, labour assessments and order basic laboratory tests. Be able to communicate respectfully with patients and caretakes during the triaging process and be able to de-escalate conflict that may arise, in collaboration with registrar, health promotion workers and watchpersons.
• Admit and monitor pre-laboring and laboring patients, taking complete medical and obstetrical histories, documenting using the SOAP method, review and implement gynaecologists’ orders, assess BISHOP scores and initiate induction of labour protocols. Be proficient in using the WHO Labour Care Guide, being able to identify prolonged labour, obstructed labour, and abnormal fetal heart rates. Be able to identify the need to consult the gynaecological specialist and consult in a timely manner as to ensure patient safety.
• Show normal physiological delivery skills and exhibit knowledge and proficiency in the management of obstetrical emergencies: twin delivery, breech delivery, antepartum haemorrhage, cord prolapse, abnormal fetal heart rate, shoulder dystocia, postpartum haemorrhage, retained placenta, cervical tear management, identification for the need to provide an episiotomy, and CPR/Shock management.
• Provide comprehensive maternal third stage and postpartum care management; active management of the third stage, identification of perineal tear and provision of high-quality suturing, and safe bladder care management.
• Show competency in neonatal care; identification of both normal and abnormal newborn transition, recognition of the need for neonatal resuscitation (APGARS/Helping babies’ breath) and the initiation of such resuscitation methods, breastfeeding support, normal newborn behaviour and recognition of the need to consult paediatric specialists.
• Exhibits high quality, respectful and effective communication with department colleagues (midwives and nurses), supervisors, patients, non-medical support staff (hygienists and watchpersons) and interprofessional colleagues (doctors, mental health workers, health promotion team).
• Is currently able to provide comprehensive family planning counselling (both hormonal and non-hormonal methods) as well as the provision of family planning methods (POP, COC, barrier methods, contraceptive injection, contraceptive implant, IUCD). If not already proficient in provision, candidate should show a willingness to develop these skills on the job.
• Be able to read medication orders, interpret and ensure orders follow MSF protocols, collect and dispense correct medication and monitor patient for any adverse reactions. Be able to identify second line medications as needed, according to MSF protocols.
• Provide safe, confidential and comprehensive sexual gender-based violence care as per MSF protocol in collaboration with internationally mobile staff. Ensure patient privacy and dignity during the process as to empower the survivor throughout the process of receiving medical attention.
• Care for biomedical equipment, bringing any areas of concern to the attention of the midwife or nurse supervisor
• Assist with the maintaining, monitoring and control of the maternity pharmacy. Assist with weekly inventory, organization, and cleaning. Follow daily the medication cold chain, bringing any cold chain ‘breaks’ to the attention of both the supervisor and the pharmacy supervisor as to ensure high quality medications are available at all times and to protect the resources of the organization from being wasted.

• إظهار مهارات الولادة الفسيولوجية الطبيعية وإظهار المعرفة والكفاءة في إدارة حالات الطوارئ التوليدية: ولادة التوائم، والولادة المقعدية، ونزيف ما قبل الولادة، وهبوط الحبل السري، ومعدل ضربات قلب الجنين غير الطبيعي، وعسر ولادة الكتف، ونزيف ما بعد الولادة، والمشيمة المحتبسة، وإدارة تمزق عنق الرحم، وتحديد الحاجة إلى إجراء شق العجان، وإدارة الإنعاش القلبي الرئوي/الصدمة.
• توفير إدارة شاملة لرعاية الأم في المرحلة الثالثة وما بعد الولادة؛ الإدارة الفعالة للمرحلة الثالثة، وتحديد تمزق العجان وتوفير خياطة عالية الجودة، وإدارة آمنة للمثانة.
• إظهار الكفاءة في رعاية حديثي الولادة؛ وتحديد كل من التحول الطبيعي وغير الطبيعي لحديثي الولادة، والتعرف على الحاجة إلى إنعاش حديثي الولادة (APGARS/مساعدة الأطفال على التنفس) وبدء أساليب الإنعاش هذه، ودعم الرضاعة الطبيعية، وسلوك حديثي الولادة الطبيعي، والتعرف على الحاجة إلى استشارة أخصائيي طب الأطفال.

• أن يقدم رعاية آمنة وسرية وشاملة لضحايا العنف الجنسي القائم على النوع الاجتماعي، وفقًا لبروتوكول أطباء بلا حدود، بالتعاون مع طاقم متنقل دوليًا. ضمان خصوصية المريض وكرامته أثناء العملية، وذلك لتمكين الناجي طوال فترة تلقي الرعاية الطبية.

• المساعدة في صيانة صيدلية قسم الولادة ومراقبتها والتحكم فيها. المساعدة في الجرد الأسبوعي، والتنظيم، والتنظيف. متابعة سلسلة تبريد الأدوية يوميًا، وإبلاغ المشرف ومشرف الصيدلية بأي انقطاعات في سلسلة التبريد، وذلك لضمان توفر أدوية عالية الجودة في جميع الأوقات، وحماية موارد المنظمة من الهدر.
