About the Project:

Mercy Hands is launching a new project in coordination with GIZ: Building Resilient Communities to Prevent Violent Extremism. The project will involve awareness raising and improvement of local activities available to youth and women, who will include IDPs and returnees. Through this, the project will reduce the incentives for vulnerable groups to join extremist organizations, combat and prevent violent extremism and increase social cohesion and tolerance.

The activities will include a community training session, community meetings, improvement of the centres in Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and Khanaqin and an art, sport and livelihood activity in each area.

Mercy Hands will hire one Project Manager for this project, to oversee all three centres in Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and in Khanaqin.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Write mid-term and final reports.
  • Manage the implementation of MEAL activities, and record project progress against indicators, including
  • At the beginning of the process, the MEAL officer will collate feedback from key stakeholders, adopting a participatory approach.
  • The direct beneficiaries will be consulted, to ensure that their needs and interests are taken into account and are considered in the monitoring and evaluation process.
  • Conduct the final survey to gain information on participants’ perceptions of violent extremism and their level of satisfaction with the project
  • MEAL Officer will be readjusting the project activities - if necessary - based on the feedback of the beneficiaries interviewed.
  • Manage and maintain the beneficiary data base, adhering to confidentiality guidelines
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor project activities and gather feedback
  • Ensure timely and accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the organization
  • Ensure that lessons learned are documented and shared across teams and with stakeholders.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to promoting gender equity and equality
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and good time management skills
  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, outlook)
  • Strong understanding of business grants and cash transfers
