About the Project:

Mercy Hands is launching a new project in coordination with GIZ: Building Resilient Communities to Prevent Violent Extremism. The project will involve awareness raising and improvement of local activities available to youth and women, who will include IDPs and returnees. Through this, the project will reduce the incentives for vulnerable groups to join extremist organizations, combat and prevent violent extremism and increase social cohesion and tolerance.

The activities will include a community training session, community meetings, improvement of the centres in Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and Khanaqin and an art, sport and livelihood activity in each area.

Mercy Hands will hire one Project Manager for this project, to oversee all three centres in Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and in Khanaqin.

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist the PM in carrying out a needs assessment for the centre. Assist in the rehabilitation of the center’s repairs and improvements and supervision of the local workers.
  • Deliver one training session of 30 participants on community inclusion, dialogue skills, small scales initiatives and conflict resolution in the centre.
  • Help to create or improve a social media account for the centre, uploading regular update posts.
  • Deliver one training session for centre staff on social media use.
  • In coordination with the PM, attend a meeting with the PVE subcommittee and community figures to discuss the Community-Led PVE Road Map which addresses PVE triggers.
  • Plan community three events including sports, art and handicraft / livelihood activities.
  • Mobilize community members to attend events and encourage participation in activities.
  • Oversee the implementation of one sports event, one art event and one livelihood event in the area which deliver the PVE message.
  • In coordination with the PM, attend a meeting to establish Structured Dialogue to review the progress and discuss the possible ways for mitigation concerns and refine the local vision to implement the Plan of Action
  • Ensure that messages are delivered clearly and appropriately to the target audience.
  • Collect feedback and observations from activities to support project improvement.
  • Maintain attendance records, session reports, and other documentation.
  • Coordinate with project staff and community leaders for smooth implementation.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, protection, and confidentiality principles at all times.
  •  Report any challenges or incidents to the PM immediately.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor in line with the project’s goals.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • High school diploma or higher education preferred.
  • Prior experience in facilitation, training, or community outreach is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of social media.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
