About the Project:
Mercy Hands is launching a new project in coordination with GIZ: Building Resilient Communities to Prevent Violent Extremism. The project will involve awareness raising and improvement of local activities available to youth and women, who will include IDPs and returnees. Through this, the project will reduce the incentives for vulnerable groups to join extremist organisations, combat and prevent violent extremism and increase social cohesion and tolerance.
The activities will include a community training session, community meetings, improvement of the centres in Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and Khanaqin and an art, sport and livelihood activity in each area.
Mercy Hands will hire one Project Manager for this project, to oversee all three centres in Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and in Khanaqin.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the HQ staff from Baghdad to Diyala for field visits.
- Drive staff and authorized personnel to assigned destinations in a safe and timely manner, most importantly drive the Project Manager between Jalawla, Alsa’d Iyah and Khanaqin to attend meetings and activities.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, fueled, and well-maintained at all times.
- Regularly inspect vehicle condition and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logs, including mileage, fuel consumption, and servicing.
- Support logistics team with deliveries, pickups, and transportation of materials.
- Adhere to local traffic laws and security protocols at all times.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods and documents when needed.
- Ensure the safety of passengers and cargo during all trips.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Valid national driver’s license.
- Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably with NGOs or international organizations.
- Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with routes and traffic conditions in the area of operation.
