Description

The Community Mobilizer will support in implementing project activities related to education and protection at the community level. The role involves direct engagement with communities, children, parents, schools, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of activities, effective follow-up, and timely referrals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Community Engagement & Mobilization

  • Conduct outreach to identify out-of-school children (OOSC) and support their enrollment into formal schools and ALP programs.
  • Engage families, community leaders, and committees to raise awareness on education, child protection, and available services.
  • Support the formation and strengthening of community-based committees and PTAs.

Activity Implementation

  • Assist in the distribution of learning kits and other education support materials.
  • Follow up with enrolled children and help update their data in the Waliku system.
  • Support in organizing teacher training, capacity-building sessions, and community-level education activities.
  • Assist in monitoring school attendance and identifying children at risk of dropping out.

Case Management & Referrals

  • Identify protection concerns affecting children and report them to the Education Officer.
  • Support the establishment and operation of the referral system to connect children with case management service providers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold child safeguarding principles at all times.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with schools, communities, and stakeholders as directed by the Education Officer.
  • Submit daily/weekly updates, reports, and field observations to the Education Officer.

Other Duties

Perform any other tasks assigned by the Education Officer.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Education, Community Development, Psychology, or any related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in community mobilization, education, child protection, or humanitarian projects.

  • Knowledge of local communities, culture, and social dynamics in Baghdad and surrounding areas.

  • Familiarity with education and child protection systems, including out-of-school children (OOSC) programmes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, teachers, and community leaders.

  • Experience in organizing community meetings, trainings, or awareness sessions.

  • Ability to collect, update, and manage data accurately, including using digital tools or systems (e.g., Waliku).

  • Understanding of child safeguarding principles and confidentiality requirements.

  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to handle sensitive cases and community challenges.

  • Teamwork and collaboration skills, with flexibility to work in dynamic and challenging environments.

  • Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken; knowledge of English is an advantage.
