Description

The Iraq Delegation of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Najaf invites qualified candidates to apply for the following vacancy:

 

Position: Staff Health Officer 1

Level: B2

Duration of Contract: One year fixed term contract (with the possibility of renewal)

Location: Iraq – Najaf Sub-Delegation

Objective:

The ICRC is a neutral, impartial and independent organization, which has been working in Iraq for 40 years. Its exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect and assets affected by armed conflict and other situation of violence to provide them with assistance. The ICRC endeavors to alleviate suffering by promoting and strengthening Inter-national Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles.

 

The staff Health Officer 1 will support Najaf and Basrah staff by implementing all ICRC staff health activities at Sub-delegation level. S/he promotes and maintains the physical and mental health of the ICRC staff and act as Health Focal point for Najaf Sub Delegation and Basrah office.

 

S/he accomplish his/her duties in compliance with the ICRC Iraq Staff Regulations and F&A Management Manual, Medical Coverage guidelines, policy and strategic framework.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Systematic individual or collective briefing for all new staff coming to the sub-delegation.
  • Systematic control of vaccination books during the briefing,
  • Support staff by basic trainings as First Aid training, stress management, resilience, etc.
  • Conduct assessment of referral facilities ensuring safety of access for all employees - a matrix of identified health facilities and related contacts is made available to all staff and regularly updated as needed.
  • Identify and assess hospitals and specialized services; support the analysis of the health services in area of responsibility in close coordination with the health dept. Identify medical services where mobiles colleagues can consult (English consultation, Laboratory, imageries, dental, gynecological…) in coordination with health dept.
  • Produce a quarterly report for his area of responsibility.
  • Verify consistency between the medicines to be reimbursed and the prescriptions issued.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with regard to all medical information.
  • Produce a quarterly report for his area of responsibility.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Minimum Required Knowledge & Experience:

  • Medical doctor (master's degree in medicine) or registered nurse.
  • Fluent knowledge of local language, and English.
  • Computer proficiency including Office applications.
  • Three years' clinical experience.
  • Experience in mental health and stress management.
  • Experience in medical evacuation and transportation.
  • Knowledge of tropical health and public health.
  • Respect of Medical professional regulations
  • Respect of strict medical confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently
