Description

JOB PURPOSE  

 

The senior office position plays a key role in facilitating effective project implementation by ensuring strong coordination with local authorities, community representatives, and other relevant stakeholders. He/she will also be responsible for organizing and facilitating conferences, workshops, and coordination meetings in Mosul and other project locations, ensuring effective participation, logistical planning, and documentation.

 

KEY OBJECTIVES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The following is a list of expected tasks that this strategic role of Senior Project Officer is expected to carry out; however, this list is not exhaustive and other relevant tasks may be assigned by the line manager:

 

Programme Support

  • Ensure relationship building with relevant authorities and maintain good relationships for facilitation of program in the different areas of implementation.
  • Provide support for the day-to-day implementation of project activities in accordance with the agreed work plans;
  • Support the implementation of the sustainability plans and initiatives of the peace teams on the logistical and operation level.
  • Events planning for meetings, workshops, training sessions or other, including logistics of venue, hotel, transport booking, including financial management aspects.
  • Make sure programming activities for the project are adhered to internal and external financial compliance requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate conferences, workshops, and meetings in Mosul in collaboration with relevant departments and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and secure suitable venues, ensuring they meet safety, accessibility, and logistical requirements.
  • Manage invitations, registration, and attendance tracking for participants from local authorities, civil society, and project partners.
  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, and interpretation services as needed.
  • Ensure all events are implemented in line with organizational protocols, including visibility, safeguarding, and security measures.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills, attributes and experience: 

 

Background

  • A bachelor’s degree in international Affairs, Political Science, Law, or other related fields;
  • Minimum three years professional experience in a similar role with NGO/INGO;
  • An in-depth understanding of Iraq context;
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is essential;

 

Skills and attitude

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority;
  • Sound personal organizational skills, including excellent time management, strong analytical skills, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, including relationships both in person and in remote locations;
  • Ability to show good judgment related to discretion and confidentiality.
