
CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières-Holland (MSF-H) is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.
MSF-H is currently recruiting for a Midwife, for Kirkuk project.
Accountabilities
-Co-ordinating and managing a woman’s care in collaboration with Drs, nurses and MSF Midwife Activity Manager
- Understand and implement a holistic pathway of care that is women-centred
-Assist in developing the service and be actively involved in audit
-Understand and be competent in the use and maintenance of specialised equipment
-Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records at all times including use of partograph in labour
-Work within the procedures and policies of MSF
-Attend mandatory training
- Respond to and report adverse incidents in line with MSF policy
-Ensure the safety of patients at all times
-Maintain effective communication and dissemination of information with colleagues, multidisciplinary team and critical care team
-To maintain a safe ward environment, to work with other members of the team, to produce health care environments that are conducive to safe therapeutic and ethical practice
Assessment
-Be able to undertake a comprehensive physiological assessment of both woman and fetus including vital signs, fetal heart monioring and perform a complete abdominal assessment including measuring fundal height, lie, position and presentation
-Undertake and interpret fetal monitoring and escalate when appropriate, including intermittent auscultation and continuous CTG monitoring
-Carry out assessments of women in labour, compliant with MSF IPC standards including vaginal examination and speculum examination
-Conduct a full physiological assessment of patients, escalating when appropriate in a timely manner
-Order and/or perform and interpret common laboratory tests (e.g., hematocrit, urinalysis dipstick
for proteinuria)
-Promptly identify abnormal labour patterns and initiate appropriate and timely intervention
and/or referral
identification, eye care, screening tests, administration of Vitamin K, birth registration)
-Position infant to initiate breast feeding as soon as possible after birth and support exclusive
breastfeeding
-Transfer the at-risk newborn to emergency care facility when available
-Educate parents about danger signs in the newborn and when to bring infant for care
-Educate parents about normal growth and development of the infant and young child, and
how to provide for day-to-day needs of the normal child
-Assist parents to access community resources available to the family
-Support parents during grieving process for loss of pregnancy, stillbirth, congenital birth
defects or neonatal death
-Support parents during transport/transfer of newborn or during times of separation from
infant (e.g., NICU admission)
-Anti D administration
-Provide discharge information for women including warning signs, discussion of family planning, SIDS, vaccinations and minor illnesses

Legal contract, full time position (48 H)

Location: Kirkuk/ Hawija
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education Essential midwifery qualification or specialization. Desired Bachelor in Midwifery
Experience Essential working experience of at least two years in midwife activities related jobs. For OCBA, this is desirable.
Languages
