JOB OVERVIEW:
The MHPSS Trainer will deliver a comprehensive 3-days training workshop aimed at enhancing the capacity of local staff and volunteers in providing mental health and psychosocial support services. The trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering specialized training, with mentorship, to the governmental focal points in the targeted location (Ninewa, and Salah Al-din). The training will focus on psychosocial skills and providing mental health and psychosocial support in post-conflict contexts while focusing on severe mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Through the training, government focal points will learn MHPSS service program development, resource mobilisation, administrative skills required to operate the centre, safeguarding awareness, awareness on protection issues and safe community, referral system establishment, etc.
TRAINING SUBJECT
This job description outlines the expectations and requirements for a short-term MHPSS Trainer position, designed to ensure effective training and capacity building for local staff and volunteers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a detailed 3-day training curriculum tailored to the needs of the participants.
- Prepare training materials, handouts, and presentations.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager/MHPSS Specialist to ensure the training content aligns with project goals and objectives.
- Conduct interactive and engaging training sessions over the 3-day period.
- Utilize various training methods, including lectures, group discussions, role-playing, and case studies.
- Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and open dialogue.
- Assess the knowledge and skills of participants before and after the training.
- Provide individualized feedback and support to participants during the training.
- Encourage peer learning and collaboration among participants.
- Administer pre- and post-training evaluations to measure the effectiveness of the training.
- Compile a comprehensive training report, including participant feedback and recommendations for future training sessions.
- Submit the training report to the Project Manager/MHPSS & Gender Specialists within one week after the training.
PERSON QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in MHPSS, holding a Training of Trainers (ToT) certificate, with an emphasis on training and capacity building.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering MHPSS training programs.
- Strong understanding of psychosocial support principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and in challenging environments.
