Description

Job Overview

The Project Manager will be responsible for managing, coordinating, overseeing and directly implementing KOHRW’s Livelihood/ Social Cohesion activities in Iraq. The Project Manager is responsible for designing and/or implementation, managing and ensuring delivery of all project activities - contextualization of materials, training, community engagement, beneficiary selection, grant disbursement and business follow up - in the project site, including managing a team of staff and developing further programming.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Lead on conducting assessments in collaboration with other sectors and the shaping of new project proposals in the project area, in accordance with the Programme Framework, ensuring that assessment reports are written and disseminated.  
  • Work in all aspects of Project Cycle Management.
  • Contribute to the effective implementation of all operations support activities, including related to administration, finances and logistics, so as to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Conduct regular visits to project implementation areas and advice and support field staff with the identification and solution of technical issues.
  • Provide supervision, guidance and monitoring for project staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities and encouraging effective team work.
  • Managing overall project activities, supervising implementation of projects and making sure project is according to work plan and timetable.
  • Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions for the project.
  • Ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Communicating with Donor during the time of implementation.
  • Determining project changes.
  • Providing administrative support as needed.
  • Developing project strategies.
  • Coordinating with local authorities.
  • Continuous communication with the field team, the donor and all departments of the organization.
  • Reviewing and reporting on project progress (weekly update monthly report and final report) to project donor.
  • Contributing in proposal writing, fundraising and submitting new projects on behalf of the organization.
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Create a project management calendar for fulfilling each goal and objective.
  • Representing KOHRW in cluster meetings and other events.
  • Any other extra tasks requested by the line manager or Executive Director.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • University degree in Civil Engineering department.
  • At least four years of experience in Projects Management.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management cycle and experience managing large humanitarian projects in challenging environments, including planning and delivery, internal and external coordination, monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience in developing program strategies and project proposals.
  • Capacity to lead large teams and work with local partners.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Willingness to travel in/out the field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good communication channels with relevant stakeholders.
