Position Summary:
The Junior Engineer is the most entry-level post in the District's range of engineering positions. This grade is designated for engineering tasks that include minor to moderate difficulties, both in the field and office, with a focus on learning and development. Work is thoroughly evaluated during its execution and after it is completed.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage, design, develop, create, and maintain small-scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely, and sustainable manner.
- Create manuals that describe existing products’ operation, features, and maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with the project engineer to create and evaluate suitable training materials, and guidelines, and support all training procedures.
- Conduct on-site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings, and other).
- Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications.
- Assess potential risks, materials, and costs.
- Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies.
- Oversee and mentor staff and liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with others including INGOs, National NGOs, and community stakeholders.
- Monitor progress and compile reports on project status.
- Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety, etc., and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably with a specialization in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene facilities), Civil, or a closely related field.
- Highly computer literate, proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel a must, with experience in using other online databases, or project management systems an asset.
- Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles and concepts related to civil engineering, such as mechanics, materials science, and fluid dynamics.
- Ability to develop and prepare reports.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively through reports, drawings, and presentations.
- Communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with authorities.
- A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to navigate remote management and work with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to meet changing deadlines and priorities and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent in English & Kurdish.
