Description

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Gender Specialist will lead on providing hands-on technical supervision and support for mainstreaming gender equality and women empowerment throughout all the project activities. The project aims to address the reintegration needs of Iraqi nationals returning from Northeast Syria (NES), including community members and those perceived to be formerly associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), cleared by authorities, and are sustainably reintegrated back
into communities. The project has three-pronged approach;
1. Livelihoods and economic reintegration
2. Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support Services (MHPSS)
3. Establishment and operationalization of One-Stop-Information Centers(OSICs), including safe spaces for women

Responsibilities will include:
- Conducts gender-sensitive market assessments to align economic activities
with women’s needs and opportunities.
- Ensure HRFs livelihood and MHPSS interventions are gender sensitive and
promote women empowerment – Facilitate equitable access to vocational
training, business grants, and job opportunities.
- Address Barriers to Participation - Implement flexible training schedules, childcare support, and women-friendly spaces to encourage involvement.
- Analyze gender risks related to negative impacts or vulnerabilities arising from gender-based inequalities, roles, or norms, and implement effective solutions.
- Enhance Gender Awareness – Train staff, community leaders, and beneficiaries on gender equality, GBV prevention, and women's right .
- Establish a women-focused information center for access to support service and psychosocial care - Ensure an established center is safe and inclusive space for women.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Personal Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in gender mainstreaming.
3. Strong knowledge of gender analysis frameworks, GBV prevention, and
international protection standards.
4. Excellent facilitation, communication, and capacity-building skills.
5. Writing and verbal communication skills in both Arabic and English.
6. Right to live and work in Iraq, with the ability to travel within and outside the KRI region.
7. Willing to start work ASAP.
