Overview

 

Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.

The CSSC’s Tutor is mainly responsible of planning trainings that will be provided by the Civil Society Service Center in Basra, in collaboration with a Team formed by:  Coordinator, Administrator, Logistician, Legal Advisor. She/he will provide consultation and trainings to the NNGOs and groups, and will ensure that sub-granting process works effectively and efficiently.

We look for an enthusiastic, flexible, committed, and resourceful collaborator, based in Basra (and surrounding neighborhoods) with a problem-solving attitude. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and autonomy in the organization of her/his work while ensuring at the same the capacity to act in strong coordination with Center Coordinator, Project PM, Project Grant Manager and other team members (Coordinators and Tutors of CSSC in Erbil and Mosul).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare training materials on strategic planning, project management, fundraising, good governance and Campaigning
  • Supporting NNGOs and groups in writing proposal and preparing relevant papers for receiving grants
  • Managing and supporting the grants requirement and implementation for the organization
  • Provide advisory services to the NNGOs based on the need assessment
  • Chair or co-chair in meetings, seminars and roundtable with relevant stakeholders and participants in CSSC Basra
  • Monitor paperwork and other related documents connected with grant-funded programs.
  • Organize webinar, workshops, trainings in collaboration with other CSSC’s staff
  • Perform such other duties maybe assigned.
  • Coordinate with PM and Administrator and Coordinators for the audit

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education: 

  • University degree preferably in relevant subjects (Business and Business Administration etc.).

 

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in project management/team leadership/capacity building activities

 

  • Working experience with local counterparts (CSOs, local NGOs, and others)
  • Capacities to plan activities successfully targeting results and objectives
  • Team working skills and proactive attitude
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Knowledge of standards and literature in human and environmental rights, policy-making, humanitarian and development principles, accountability, governance, advocacy and campaigning

 

 

Knowledge: 

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Self-reliant and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of standards and literature in human and environmental rights, policy-making, humanitarian and development principles, accountability, governance, advocacy and campaigning
  • Literacy in Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Personal integrity and credibility
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Report writing

Languages:

  • Required excellent oral and written Arabic and English
