Job Announcement: Social Media & Communication Officer
Location: Erbil, with field trips to Baghdad
Job Type: Part-time (60%)
Contract Duration: 12 months (based on project duration)
About the Project:
Together to Protect Human & the Environment Association is a local NGO operating in Iraq, in partnership with Save the Children Iraq, implementing the ThriveSpace project in Erbil and Baghdad. The project aims to address the impact of climate change on children's emotional well-being and academic performance by creating climate-resilient learning environments, supporting school-based eco-initiatives, and producing child-led digital content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Creation (50%):
- Manage project visibility both online and offline.
- Create content including videos, posts, and animations.
- Record videos of activities and children.
- Manage project social media accounts (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram).
- Support schools in publishing posts, campaigns, and key content.
- Provide technical support to students in Hackathon initiatives.
- Collaborate with the IT specialist to understand the “My Environment Passport” (MEP) platform.
- Awareness & Activity Implementation (50%):
- Design leaflets, brochures, and posters based on budget and management requests.
- Raise awareness among children about safe social media use following the “Do No Harm” principle.
- Participate in activities to guide and support the team on communication and visibility standards.
- Regularly post about sustainability and environmental awareness in schools.
- Follow up on children’s points/rewards in the MEP app.
- Communicate with local shops to explain the project and offer discounts for children.
- Promote the reward system and MEP concept to children.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in social media management and graphic design.
- Proven ability to create engaging content (photos/videos).
- Experience working with children.
- Understanding of social media algorithms.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Relevant certifications in graphic design, content creation, etc.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong computer and graphic design skills.
- Proficiency in Kurdish and Arabic writing.
- Fluency in Arabic, Kurdish, and English is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to use AI tools for content creation.
- Technical skills in camera operation, lighting, and video production.
- Willingness to travel to Baghdad.
