Description

Context/ Reporting line

 

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator (DTM), the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub office (HoSO) and the direct supervision National Operations Officer, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

 

 Core Functions / Responsibilities

 

  1. Track and monitor daily movement of travelers at the assigned cross border point (Ibrahim Al-Khalil)
  2. Conduct qualitative and quantitative surveys on a sample of travelers crossing the FMP in line with the methodology and guidance provided by the supervisor.
  3. Gather accurate information on the number, background, and other relevant characteristics of travelers, returnees, and migrants as requested.
  4. Ensure continuous physical presence at the assigned border point from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM maintaining full operational coverage during these hours.
  5. Record and submit all collected data and observations on a daily basis to the direct supervisor in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Prepare materials, working papers, and statistical tables for inclusion in the monthly monitoring reports and submit to the supervisor.
  7. Maintain an updated logbook of daily movements, incidents, and key observations during operational hours.
  8. Advise and keep IOM informed of evolving returnee and migrant movements, trends, and dynamics observed at the border.
  9. Report regularly to the direct supervisor on the implementation status of activities, including progress, challenges, irregularities, and shortfalls.
  10. Ensure compliance with IOM security protocols and maintain professional conduct while representing IOM at the border point.
  11. Coordinate and liaise with Border Point (BP) management and relevant local authorities to ensure smooth implementation of monitoring activities.
  12. Write brief reports on unusual or significant movements and immediately notify the supervisor of any emergencies or protection concerns.
  13. Ensure the work area is properly maintained, data collection tools are functional, and materials are securely stored at the end of each workday.
  14. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Required Qualifications

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic university or institution with 2 years of relevant professional experience, or:
  • Completed high school diploma degree with 4 years of relevant professional experience.

 

Experience and Skills

 

  • Work experience in data collection activities or program implementation.
  • Familiarity with assessments, particularly quantitative and qualitative data collection practices.
  • Good writing, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results; capacity to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

 

Languages:

  • Fluency in Kurdish is required.
  • Working Knowledge of Arabic or English is an advantage.
