JOB DESCRIPTION

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization committed to promoting sustainable development and humanitarian assistance through responsive, innovative, and accountable programming. As part of its continued digital transformation and operational scale-up, AGO is seeking to recruit a highly skilled IT and Web Developer to support its expanding technological infrastructure. This position is critical to ensuring the security, functionality, and accessibility of AGO’s digital platforms, internal systems, and online presence.

The IT and Web Developer will be responsible for the administration of both in-house and cloud-based servers, the development and maintenance of the organization's website, and the setup of all hardware and software systems across AGO offices. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical capabilities, hands-on experience with IT system configuration, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The role also supports the design and integration of digital tools that enhance team collaboration, project monitoring, and field data collection.

This position requires close coordination with departments across the organization, particularly logistics, HR, M&E, and communications. The IT and Web Developer will be based in AGO’s coordination office, with travel to sub-offices when needed, and will report directly to the Head of Support. By ensuring a resilient IT environment, this role contributes directly to the effectiveness, transparency, and impact of AGO’s operations and programs.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

A.      Server and Network Infrastructure

  • Design, configure, and maintain AGO’s in-house and cloud-based servers (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, local Windows/Linux servers).
  • Ensure network stability, performance, and security across all office locations.
  • Implement VPNs, firewalls, backups, and data redundancy systems.
  • Regularly update system software and perform security audits.

B.      IT System Setup and Administration

  • Set up and manage all IT systems including laptops, desktops, printers, network devices, and IP cameras.
  • Install, configure, and update necessary software and operating systems (Windows, Office 365, antivirus, Zoom, etc.).
  • Maintain a structured IT asset management system and ensure all equipment is logged, tagged, and periodically maintained.
  • Provide end-user support and troubleshooting for staff in main and sub-offices.

C.      Web Development and Digital Platforms

  • Develop, manage, and maintain AGO’s official website (including front-end and back-end functionality).
  • Ensure the website is secure, responsive, and regularly updated with content from the programs and communications teams.
  • Integrate digital tools such as online applications, reports, and project dashboards.
  • Administer organization’s domain, email systems, and hosting platforms.

D.      Data Security and Backups

  • Implement data protection protocols and enforce cybersecurity policies.
  • Set up automated data backup systems (local and cloud-based) and test disaster recovery plans.
  • Train staff on safe IT practices and data protection regulations (GDPR, etc.).

E.        Digital Tools and Automation

  • Support the digitization of internal processes including forms, reports, HR and logistics systems.
  • Assist in implementing case management and monitoring tools (e.g., Power BI, KoboToolbox, custom platforms).
  • Provide solutions for file sharing, remote collaboration, and internal communication platforms (e.g., Google Drive, SharePoint, Slack).

F.       Other Competencies:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.

G.      Reporting and Supervision

Reports directly to the Head of Support. Will coordinate with program teams, M&E, HR, and communications departments for integrated IT needs.

H.    Duty Station and Duration

This is a full-time position based in Erbil with periodic travel to AGO sub-offices as needed. The initial contract is for 6 months, renewable based on performance and funding availability.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role involving IT system administration, server management, and web development.
  • Strong experience in managing cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proven track record in installing and troubleshooting network and security systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP).
  • Server and network administration (Windows Server, Linux, DNS, Active Directory).
  • Knowledge of web hosting, database management (MySQL/PostgreSQL), and CMS (e.g., WordPress).
  • Proficiency with hardware setup (routers, IP cameras, printers, biometric devices, UPS).

Other Competencies:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
