Context/Reporting line:
Under the general guidance of the Chief of Mission, the overall supervision of the Media and Communications Officer, and the direct supervision of the Senior Media and Communications Assistant, the Project Associate Videographer and Photographer will be responsible for the following key duties:
Core Functions / Responsibilities
The Videographer and Photographer will support the IOM Iraq mission by traveling to field locations to document activities through photography, videography, and interviews. This includes capturing high-quality photos, video footage, and testimonials, which will be edited into various communication materials such as videos, stories, and graphic cards.
- Capture high-quality photos per assigned activity, ensuring proper framing, stability, lighting, sharpness, and diversity of shots (medium, wide, and close-ups). Photos must be taken in RAW format, edited in Lightroom, and exported at the highest quality setting (12).
- Record interviews with beneficiaries, partners, and government officials as assigned by the Media and Communications Unit. Secure informed consent from beneficiaries before any recording begins.
- Edit and produce videos following IOM templates, ensuring they are optimized for various social media platforms.
- Share collected materials at the end of each day via a cloud-based file-sharing service such as OneDrive or WeTransfer, ensuring quality retention. When required to edit collected materials into a finished product (e.g., a short video), this will be considered an additional workday and compensated accordingly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience in the field of communication or media, or the humanitarian sector., or.
- Completed high school degree with 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Experience in communication, reporting, audio-visual productions preferably in the international development/humanitarian sector.
- Ability to work without direct supervision and be results oriented.
- Delivers on set objectives in hardship situations.
- High level of Adobe Premier, lightroom, and of photography/videography
- Effective coordination of actions in the field and with the focal point
- Experience in an international, humanitarian/development organization an advantage
- IOM experience is an advantage.
- Travel throughout the region when required
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from different cultures and professional backgrounds.
- Organizational, communication interpersonal and presentational skills.
- Ability to work with accuracy under constraints and pressure.
- Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, creative thinking; and,
- Proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud software such as Photoshop, lightroom, Premiere, etc.
Languages:
Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish is required
