Within the framework of the Art for Peace (A4P): Youth Leading the Peace, Recovery, and Development in Mosul project, implemented by Aid Gate Organization (AGO) in Mosul, Ninewa Governorate, and funded by OMOANA, a series of youth-focused filmmaking and acting activities are being conducted. The project aims to empower youth to express themselves through visual storytelling and performance, building skills, confidence, and psychosocial resilience.

Responsibilities:

Filmmaking & Acting Instruction

Teach foundational and intermediate filmmaking and acting techniques.

Cover key filmmaking skills: scriptwriting, storyboarding, directing, camera use, lighting, sound, editing, and post-production.

Teach acting skills: voice, movement, character development, improvisation, scene work, and performance for camera and stage.

Provide constructive feedback to participants to improve skills and confidence.

Psychosocial Empowerment Through Arts

Use filmmaking and acting to support youth in expressing identities, experiences, and perspectives.

Create a safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive environment.

Encourage exploration of themes such as trauma, resilience, and social challenges through storytelling and performance.

Program Development & Training Delivery

Prepare the curriculum, training materials, and presentations.

Conduct pre/post tests and evaluate trainees’ progress.

Plan and manage regular workshops and training sessions.

Guide participants from idea development to final production or performance.

Operational Responsibilities

Maintain video recording, lighting, sound, and stage equipment.

Ensure safe setup and proper use of all equipment during sessions.

Organize editing tools, software, and digital file storage.

Support the coordination of a final film screening or live performance showcase.

Community Engagement & Inclusion

Adapt training to meet the needs of vulnerable or diverse groups.

Respect and integrate local culture and context into training and productions.

 

Training Preparation & Delivery

The trainer should prepare the curriculum and training materials with presentations.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

Track participants’ creative and technical progress.

Collect feedback and document achievements.

Provide reports with participant attendance, performance outcomes, and final project outputs.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications of Filmmaking & Acting Trainer:

Proven experience delivering filmmaking and/or acting workshops.

Strong knowledge of film production stages, video recording, and post-production.

Proficiency in acting techniques and performance coaching.

Portfolio of film or stage projects (short films, documentaries, educational videos, theatre).

Experience working with youth from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.

Ability to design engaging curriculum and interactive sessions.

Strong communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills.

Degree or equivalent professional experience in filmmaking, acting, media production, or performing arts is preferred.

Note: The applicant must bring samples of previous film work or live performance footage.
