Description

The Education assistant will be responsible to ensure community participation and engagement to embed education component of the project to make quality education accessible to beneficiary children by supervising the ECCD facilitators and provide daily support for the team. The Education assistant will work closely with the education sectors in Anbar-Ramadi to improve the education system and environment under Ahlan Simsim Iraq AS-I project in the targeted schools and centers.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Responsible for the overall field/ center level implementation of project activities according to the workplan and the implementation plan.
  • Work closely with ECCD educators and provide guidance on the daily implementation.
  • Ensure that the educators are trained and supported to implement project activities.
  • Facilitate  parents engagement to play an effective role in making quality education accessible for children through the provision of ECCD.
  • Increase quality education and improve preparation to school through support pre-education and establishing ECCD centres.
  • Liaise with community leaders and parents to introduce program activities and encourage community involvement in program implementation and monitoring.
  • Conduct regular coordination with the DoE, and government staff sharing updates, gaining approvals and engaging them in the project.
  • Actively contribute to the capacity building of ECCD facilitators on content and pedagogy, ELM, Disability inclusion and roll out of education activities at the ECCD centre.  
  • Communicate community concerns and issues regarding education to the education coordinator to inform the project design and future learning.
  • Lead and support in conducting baseline and end line assessment such as the IDELA and other project related assessments.
  • Support ECCD Facilitators in planning, implementing and managing routine activities, i.e., conducting / attending meetings and recording minutes of the meetings and follow up on action plans.
  • Compile weekly, monthly reports on describing activities, indicators, case studies and lesson learned.
  • Ensures adherence to the Child Safeguarding Policy and reporting procedures.
  • Undertakes any other task assigned by supervisor.
  • Lead and support the team to organize different events such as child day, teacher day and celebrate diversity.…

 

Safeguarding responsibilities:

  • Sharing safeguarding related information with the community as planned in the detailed implementation plan.
  • Ensuring that all ECCD facilitators receive safeguarding training prior to engaging directly with programme participants.  
  • Ensuring all facilitators receive regular performance appraisal according to the VMS guidelines, which is documented in VMS.
  • Engage with children, adults and other key stakeholders in the community to identify and contextualize safeguarding risks and mitigation.
  • Ensure the implementation of safe programmes by being alert and responsive to
    safeguarding risks in project communities.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Previous work with children required, preferably in a pre-school and ECCD or educational setting.
  • More than 3 years working with NGOs education sector
  • Must be excellent in communicating with children and community members.
  • Experience in community engagement and familiarity of the targeted communities.
  • Experience in working with adults to promote the protection of children.
  • Committed to implementing programs that involve children at all levels of implementation.
  • Flexibility and ability to work as a team.
  • Full-time work which is 8 hours per day and five days a week.
  • Good reporting skills
  • Has experience in managing team.
  • Has a good performance in implementing tasks
  • Ability to speak and write in Arabic and Average understanding and writing in English.

Ability to travel to other governorates mostly Erbil and stay overnight to attend different capacity building training in order to cascade to ECCD facilitators and other education personnel.
