Background
Within the framework of the Art for Peace (A4P): Youth Leading the Peace, Recovery, and Development in Mosul project, implemented by Aid Gate Organization (AGO) in Mosul, Ninewa Governorate, and funded by OMOANA, a series of youth-focused art and skill development activities are being conducted to promote peacebuilding, social cohesion, and community recovery. The project aims to empower youth to become active leaders in peace, recovery, and development through art and creative expression.
Responsibility:
Art Instruction & Skill Building
Teach foundational and advanced techniques in painting, drawing, and murals.
Provide constructive feedback to participants.
Psychosocial Support Through Art
Use art as a therapeutic tool for expression of trauma, stress, or emotions.
Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages self-expression.
Collaborate with mental health professionals when needed.
Program Development & Management
Plan and conduct regular art workshops and training sessions.
Develop toolkits and supply lists for workshops.
Community Engagement & Inclusion
Adapt training to the needs of vulnerable groups (e.g., refugees, children, women, persons with disabilities).
Respect and integrate local cultures, symbols, and traditions.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Conduct pre/post tests and evaluate trainees.
Track participant progress, collect feedback, and document impact.
Provide reports with attendance, testimonials, and artwork samples.
Training Preparation & Delivery
The trainer should prepare the curriculum and training materials with presentations.
Operational Responsibilities
Maintain inventory of art materials and request supplies as needed.
clean working spaces.
Support exhibitions or community art displays to showcase participants’ work.
Qualifications of Drawing and painting sessions trainer:
Must have previous experience in delivering art sessions.
Must have expertise in both murals and applicative plastic art.
Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of artistic styles and previous projects.
Ability to engage participants of different age groups and skill levels.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to plan and execute interactive and educational art sessions.
Familiarity with safety standards and appropriate handling of art materials.
Flexibility and creativity in adapting sessions to suit participant needs.
Punctuality and commitment to scheduled sessions.
It is a plus to be a graduate of an accredited art school or faculty of fine arts.
