Description

1. Background

Sorouh for Sustainable Development, is committed to building resilient communities and enhancing preparedness for disasters. In line with this commitment, we aim to conduct a comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) training to strengthen the capacities of our staff and community stakeholders in [specific areas/regions]. This initiative aligns with our strategic goal of reducing vulnerabilities and enhancing disaster preparedness in high-risk areas.

2. Objectives of the Training:
The primary objectives of the DRR training are:

To build participants' understanding of key DRR concepts, frameworks, and practices.

To enhance skills in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating disaster risks.

To equip participants with tools and strategies for developing community-based disaster preparedness and response plans.

To strengthen knowledge of international and national DRR policies and frameworks, including Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and [local/national frameworks, if applicable].

3. Scope of Work:
The trainer will be responsible for:

Designing and delivering a tailored DRR training curriculum based on the needs assessment provided by the organization.

Incorporating interactive and participatory training methodologies to engage participants effectively.

Covering key topics such as hazard identification, risk assessment, mitigation strategies, disaster preparedness, and response planning.

Providing practical case studies and examples relevant to the local context.

Facilitating group discussions, exercises, and simulations to reinforce learning.

Preparing pre- and post-training assessments to evaluate the knowledge and skills gained by participants.

Submitting a comprehensive training report, including feedback and recommendations for future capacity-building initiatives.

4. Deliverables:
The trainer is expected to deliver:

A detailed training agenda and curriculum.

Training materials, including presentations, handouts, and resource guides.

A pre-training needs assessment questionnaire (if not already conducted).

A final training report, including participant feedback and analysis of pre- and post-training assessments.

5. Duration:
The training is expected to take place over [2days], during the duration 27 Jan to 15 Feb 2025  in Balad or Dejail district

6. Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal trainer should have:

A proven track record of delivering DRR training, preferably in [specific regions or similar contexts].

Advanced knowledge of DRR frameworks, policies, and practices, including the Sendai Framework.

Experience in conducting participatory and interactive training sessions.

Strong understanding of the local context and disaster risk landscape.

Excellent communication and facilitation skills in Arabic and English

Relevant academic qualifications, such as a degree in Disaster Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
