Description

Dijla Agricultural Association (DAA) is an independent non-governmental organization based in Mosul, Iraq. Established in 2012, DAA has grown into a multi-sectoral organization that works across agriculture, environment, WASH, business development, and social cohesion. Through this diverse portfolio, DAA aims to enhance community resilience and promote sustainable development across Iraq. DAA now implements programs that address environmental protectionclimate resilienceclean water and sanitation, and small business development to strengthen local economies. The organization also leads social cohesion and community engagement initiatives, creating safe spaces for dialogue, supporting vulnerable groups, and fostering peaceful coexistence. DAA operates in several Iraqi governorates, including Nineveh, Dohuk, Kirkuk, Hilla, and Anbar, delivering projects that support internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities. These interventions aim to reduce unemployment, improve living standards, and contribute to overall socio-economic stability. With strong collaboration with national and international partners, DAA has played a pivotal role in improving livelihoods, supporting community recovery, and promoting sustainable development. Job Summary

 

The Business Trainer will be responsible for designing and delivering practical, results-oriented business training programs targeting SME owners and entrepreneurs. The trainer will support beneficiaries to strengthen their business, financial, and operational skills, enhance compliance with Iraqi labor regulations, and improve workplace safety practices.

The position requires strong facilitation skills, hands-on business experience, and the ability to adapt training content to the local market context in Ninewa Governorate.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Design and develop a high-quality, context-appropriate training curriculum aligned with project objectives and beneficiaries’ needs.
  • Deliver interactive and engaging business training sessions for SME owners and entrepreneurs.

  • Respond effectively to trainees’ questions and provide practical, real-life examples.

  • Adapt training methodologies to participants’ needs and business backgrounds.

  • Organize training schedules in a way that minimizes disruption to participants’ regular work.

  • Support participants in applying learned concepts to their own businesses.

  • Provide basic mentoring and guidance during and after training sessions when required.

  • Demonstrate best practices in business management and enterprise development.

  • Evaluate trainees’ learning outcomes and training effectiveness.

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievements of trainees.

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve training content and delivery.

  • Coordinate with DAA project staff to ensure alignment with project objectives.

  • Submit training reports, evaluations, and required documentation in a timely manner.

  • Ensure efficient use of training resources and materials.


Required & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum 2–3 years of proven experience in delivering business or management training.

  • Demonstrated experience working with SMEs, entrepreneurs, or startup businesses.

  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and adult-learning skills.

  • Solid understanding of SME operations, financial planning, and local market dynamics.

  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written); knowledge of English is an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.

  • Previous experience working with NGOs or donor-funded economic development projects.

  • Familiarity with the business environment in Ninewa Governorate.

  • Ability and willingness to travel within Mosul and Hamdaniya.
