Oxfam programme in Iraq has been started in 2014 responding to humanitarian needs of displaced population as a result of the war against ISIS. We are currently implementing humanitarian and development projects in Diyala, Anbar, Kirkuk, Ninewa and Salahadin Governorates. The programme focuses on multi-sectoral projects delivering water supply, sanitation and hygiene support, livelihoods and economic support, gender and protection.
Oxfam uses a rights-based approach to programming and program quality is a right that should be demanded of all who are involved in an Oxfam programme or project. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) are considered to be important aspects of programme quality. Furthermore, our programs are based on the hypothesis that a good quality programme has the potential for greater impact. MEAL is one of the key function for Oxfam international, which plays great role to ensure program quality through continuous monitoring and follow up of project activities at different levels, measurement of program/project achievements against planned milestones, national as well as international standards, establishment of appropriate information sharing, compliant and feedback mechanisms/systems.
Duties & responsibilities:
The main purpose of the MEAL intern is to support the country and field MEAL team on undertaking of different monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), reporting and data management activities. Especially, the MEAL intern will coordinate different learning events, and trainings; documentation and sharing of different survey/evaluation/assessment reports, best practices and lessons learnt.
key Responsibilities:
- Receive data from field MEAL team, compile and review data and produce reports
- Arrange logistics for monitoring trips and evaluations and learning events at office and field when required.
- Work closely with field staff to collect data and implement activities to support beneficiary accountability
- Support the MEAL and program team to the accountability/feedback mechanism in both project level and country office level
- Assist the MEAL team in all MEAL/Research activities
- Support the MEAL team to review and consolidate data for the Indicator Performance Tracking Table/IPTT/ and Beneficiary Tracking Sheet if needed.
- Work with the program and MEAL teams to ensure documentation of programme learning initiatives and outcomes (case studies, photos, lessons learnt, most significant change stories, etc)
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Basic understanding of M&E systems and/or accountability mechanisms in both humanitarian and developmental responses is an added value
- Ability to work effectively with others, adaptable and flexible.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work sensitively with people from various cultural and social backgrounds.
- Computer literacy, particularly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of other data analysis software will be an added value
- Willingness to improve planning, coordination, and reporting skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments.
- Fluency in English, and Arabic/Kurdish, both written and spoken
- Commitment to Oxfam values.
