Job Purpose

Under the direction of the IT Manager, works to enhance MAG Iraq applications and platforms and supports efforts to increase digitalization processes and procedures. In this capacity, develop programs and solutions to streamline workflows. Also works to support management of networks, systems. Also performs a variety of maintenance/daily tasks to ensure that MAG policies are applied, and meets organization and user requirements, develops web applications using MySQL, PHP, and Laravel framework, and automation apps using Power Automate and Excel.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain databases in accordance with organizational requirements, utilizing tools such as Excel, MySQL, PHP, Power Automate, and the Laravel framework.
  • Manage and optimize existing MAG database systems to ensure high performance and management
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer software in compliance with MAG’s IT standards and policies.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware, including PCs, network cabling, printers, scanners, and other related devices.
  • Investigate and resolve user-reported issues, identifying their root causes and providing timely solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, and networking-related malfunctions to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide clear and timely user notifications regarding system maintenance schedules and potential impacts on availability.
  • Oversee the development, installation, and upgrades of software and applications, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend software and hardware upgrades to maintain system efficiency and security.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that the IT inventory list is regularly updated, accurately reflecting current assets and their status, in cooperation with Logistics staff.
  • Provide on-site IT support, maintenance, and training in field sectors as required, including travel to bases in KRI or Federal when necessary, including overnight stays if required.
  • Deliver IT training and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance users’ technical capabilities and adherence to IT best practices.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the IT Manager, contributing proactively to organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Essential Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other relevant subject.
  • Minimum of 3 years of development and helpdesk experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and MySQL,PHP, Laravel, and Power Automate.
  • Ability to install, configures, and maintains personal computers, and related hardware and software.
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.
  • Good experience with Larave framework will be an asset.

 

Essential Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Self-Organized, team player and ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a small team.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and general IT skills (e.g. Word/Excel/troubleshooting).
  • Good in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to maintain clear record keeping systems to monitor supply chain and asset management.
  • The ability to communicate both in person and on paper.
  • Negotiation skills.
