Main purpose of the job

Providing clinical psychological support to patients according to MSF principles, standards, and procedures in order to

Improve the patients’ mental health.

الغرض الرئيسي من الوظيفة:

تقديم الدعم النفسي السريري للمرضى وفقًا لمبادئ ومعايير وإجراءات منظمة أطباء بلا حدود من أجل تحسين الصحة العقلية للمرضى.

Accountabilities:

• Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition.
• إجراء تقييم لاحتياجات الصحة النفسية للمرضى ووضع التشخيص وخطة العلاج. إعلام المريض وأقاربه بالعواقب المحتملة للمرض والعلاج الدوائي لمتابعة وإحالة المرضى إلى المتخصصين الصحيين الآخرين كلما لزم الأمر، من أجل توفير العلاج الأنسب وتحسين حالة المريض
• Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions.
• تقديم الدعم النفسي وجلسات العلاج النفسي (فردي، عائلي، جماعي) للمرضى وفقاً لبروتوكولات منظمة أطباء بلا حدود من أجل تحسين ظروفهم الصحية النفسية.
• Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary, to enhance the scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators in order to ensure appropriate terminology and behaviour during sessions.

• Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities

• Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective.

• Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

MSFCH – Contextual Specific Accountabilities:

• Discuss difficulties and risks (e.g., suicidality) in the treatment of patients with the MHAM and in case of her absence with the flying MHPSS-implementer. For this, ask as often as needed, at least weekly, for individual case discussion and participate actively in group case discussions.

• Contributing qualitative data to reports (e.g. Strap) to support the MHAM, as well as support a smooth data processing by e.g. ensuring the handover of forms to/from Data department or by filling out the Code/Name-key-list (digital and on paper).

• Contribute to the proper maintenance of the Office and Consultation Rooms, in order to always receive the patients in a pleasant, agreeable, and confidential space.

• Follow the internal and external referral pathway, treating more complex (red) cases referred from the Counsellors. This includes referrals and case-discussions with the MH GAP-doctor.

• Organizing appointments in a structured, confidential way (including written appointment notes for patients), enabling the MHAM to take over activities, if needed.

• Identify challenges and/or propose solutions or new activities, according to MSF guidelines and with MHAM, in order to enhance the quality of service.

• Actively collaborate with the other team members, also by contributing to the team’s communication structures (e.g. handover about patients and tasks done/to be done in cases of days off from work, changes in the (group-session-) rosters).

• Take part in special daily activities like Screening (PHQ) and in the ITFC-ward (Psychosocial Stimulation)

• In the absence of MHAM ensure coverage of the MH-department in the daily medical morning meeting.

• In accordance with the SOPs, make use of the transportation fees for patients, financially unable to keep an appointment.
