Triangle Génération Humanitaire (TGH) is an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) designing and implementing emergency, post-emergency and development programs since 1994. The programs fall within the fields of water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH), civil engineering (Shelter), food security, rural development (Livelihood), socio-educational and psychosocial support (Protection). In 2021, its committed teams operate in 9 countries in Asia, Africa and Middle-East Region.

TGH has been working in Iraq since June 2013, providing WASH in schools, winterization distribution, cash for education, Case management and psychosocial support as well as livelihood activities to Syrian refugees and IDPs in KRI. TGH developed its expertise in delivering Child Protection assistance to diplaced, refugee and host children in camp and out-of-camp settings. TGH has been working in the capacity building of the General Directorate of Social Care and Development (GDSCD, more commonly referred to as DoSA / Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I), the Social Protection Department in Ninewa and a National NGO in the Centre and South of Federal Iraq to strengthen the child protection case management systems.

The present project “Provision of child-protection and life-saving assistance to children and their families in Baaj and Hatra sub-districts (Ninewa governorate) affected by camp closure” is to provide timely, culturally appropriate and gender sensitive child protection services to improve departure-affected children's protective environment, well-being, resilience and access to their rights as well as their families’

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The overall objective of the Community Mobilizer is to ensure, under the responsibility of the supervision team, the implementation of activities related to the community and their involvement in children’s protection, within the frame of the project.

Community Mobilizers fall under the supervision of the Project Officer. The two community mobilizers will work together as a team.

The community mobilizers will cover both Hatra and Ba’aj and will thus require regular trips to both locations. Trips to Sinjar and/or Mosul are likely to be organized for all staff meetings.   

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Tasks and Responsibilities

Responsibility 1: Create awareness materials, organize and implement awareness activities

Task 1- Create in collaboration with child protection officer, project officer, materials for Child Protection awareness sessions.

Task 2- Contribute to logistic purchase process for new material

Task 3- Contribute to the identification of main Child Protection issues

Task 4- Organize awareness activities (household level and larger events) based on an action plan, provide and adapt awareness methodology and content in accordance with the public

Task 5- Work in collaboration with other Community Mobilizer team members and PSS facilitators in order to include awareness during activities with children

Task 6- Provide transversal support to the protection team

Task 7- Ensure awareness activities are implemented in a safe environment and promote an equal treatment of the beneficiaries

Task 8- Participate in the training courses, seminar and workshops organized by TGH and/or the other partners, to exchange good practices 

Responsibility 2: Create and support Community feedback mechanism

Task 1- Identify existing community structures and/or select participants to the feedback mechanism

Task 2- Participate in creation/developing the activities’ evaluation and impact assessment tools.

Task 3- Identify issues that might not have been aware of guaranteeing the quality of the intervention and the relevance of the response and report to project management team

Task 4- Identify training’s needs for community members and report them to Project Officer

Responsibility 3: Collect and transmit the data relative to the implementation of the awareness and assessment activities

Task 1- Complete and update all the tools given for the conduction of awareness and assessment activities

Task 2- Collect and transmit the data relative to the activities to the supervision teams 

Responsibility 4: Participate in implementation of psychosocial support activities

Task 1- Participate in team in the implementation of PSS activities based on active participation and creativity stimulation of the children including educational objectives, methods and work plan, in collaboration with teachers and/or social workers.

Task 2- Contribute to the set-up of individual and/or group activities for children

Task 3- Mobilize children and youth for their participation in the various proposed activities, specific activities for adolescent (Focus Group Discussion…)

Task 4- Ensure a healthy and safety condition for spending all activities to the children. Ensure equally treatment to the beneficiaries

Task 5- Make the link between awareness activities, PSS activities and case management.

Task 6- Participate to the good cohesion of the team, coordinate actions on each site and location (schools, local activities Center, partners, other actors).

Responsibility 5: Reporting, planning and communication

Task 1- Participate in weekly meetings regarding the activities of the project

Task 2- Provide a daily/weekly activity planning and a weekly report to the Project Officer.

Task 3- Report to his/her supervision any development or change of circumstances regarding the context and actors

Task 4- Provide a daily report to Project Officer

Responsibility 6: Other tasks

Task 1- Provide translation, oral and written when needed.

Task 2- Contribute to needs assessment for any possible/future Child Protection project. 

This list of responsibilities could be modified according to the needs in the field.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Experience on animation sector, in community mobilization and/or proven experience of running educational activities with children, Diplomas and/or Certificate.
  • Strong experience in PSS activities and Community Based Approach
  • Significant experience of working with children and adolescents.
  • Ability to propose, create and run community activities.
  • Good capacity to provide active participation and creativity stimulation of the children.
  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities.
  • Good communication and social skills to establish relationships with different community.
  • Ability to work in team and co-run activities.
  • Computer skills (MS Office) can be an asset.
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills.
  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work.
  • Dynamic, creative, positive, flexible and good team player.
  • good experience in data collection and data entry.
  • good experience in communication with communities and awareness campaign.

Languages:

Mandatory: Fluency in written and spoken Arabic.
