Reporting structure • The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) directly reports to the Community Liaison Supervisor (CLS) through the Community Liaison Team Leader (if applicable) in their respective base.
Detailed Responsibilities
• A CL officer is expected to carry out some or all of the following activities, but not limited to:
Community Liaison
• Liaise with communities using meetings, interviews, mapping and other participatory activities • Liaise with village and sub-district authorities • Conduct community and household-level surveys and Focus Group Discussions • Collect accident/victim data • Gather and report contamination data according to pre-defined reporting systems and forms (Contamination Baseline Assessment)
Explosive Ordnance Risk Education
• Deliver appropriate and direct Risk Education to target groups and training to Community Focal Points • Work with other CL staff to field test appropriate Risk Education material • Conduct pre- and post RE surveys and behaviour change Focus Group Discussions Non-Technical Survey
• Properly conduct visual verification of all hazard areas (HAs), draw HA sketch maps, record GPS data • Review all key points on the various forms and submit clear, legible and accurate paperwork and Survey123 reports to team leader, supervisor and CLM.
Reporting
• Report daily activities to the Community Liaison Team Leader (if applicable) and Supervisor and through the appropriate forms • Report survey data in appropriate forms • Provide appropriate maps and diagrams related to target locations • Support with the collection of further data through photographs, reports and information for case studies as required
Representation
• Represent MAG with all partners and stakeholders (e.g. affected communities, government officials and ministries, local authorities, IKMAA/DMA, UN and NGOs). • Ensure the integrity of MAG’s organisational profile in all external communications (both written and verbal).
Person selection criteria:
The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following attributes: • Experience in working with the community and interviewing beneficiaries • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Ability and experience in delivering awareness sessions • Culturally sensitive and able to work effectively with diverse populations • Working with audience from different level of background and understanding • An understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Verbal and written Arabic/Kurdish, as relevant and applicable to their area of operations • Having a valid driving licence
