Program / Department Summary
Mercy Corps works in places of transition, where conflict, disaster, political upheaval, or economic collapse present opportunities to build more secure, productive, and just communities. Providing emergency relief in times of crisis, we move quickly to help communities recover and build resilience to future shocks, and promote sustainable change by supporting community-led and market-driven initiatives. Recognizing both the great potential and the complex challenges faced by the Middle East, since 1989 Mercy Corps has been implementing a range of humanitarian assistance and development programs tailored to the specific needs of the region and of those communities where we work.
Mercy Corps has worked across Iraq’s 18 governorates since 2003, implementing relief and development programming, more than a third of which has focused on the specific needs of refugees and displaced persons. Mercy Corps Iraq current goal is to work with new and existing civil society, public and private sector partners to meet immediate and long-term needs by strengthening communities’ ability to rebuild amidst increasing crisis. Mercy Corps Iraq focuses on (1) a relief-to-resilience pathway to meet the needs of conflict-affected communities leveraging agency expertise in conflict management and civil society development (2) a humanitarian response that empowers conflict-affected populations to meet their own needs (3) partnering with conflict-affected adolescents to address their diverse needs, promoting leadership and linkages with civil society.-affected adolescents to address their diverse needs, promoting leadership
General Position Summary
The Cleaner is responsible cleanliness and tidiness of all MC buildings and rooms (office and guest house). Maintain the highest standard of housekeeping and cleaning, in order to achieve efficient service to the departments and the program staff.
Essential Job Responsibilities Office:
· Maintain the cleanness of the office, kitchen facilities and bathrooms; dusting, vacuuming, washing, guest house, etc.
· Identify needed repairs in the house and premises - alert supervisor for action;
· Be available to help the supervisor to organize and plan for meetings and gatherings.
· Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
· Perform other work related duties and responsibilities as may be reasonably requested by the head of office.
· Represent Mercy Corps in a professional manner.
Guest House:
· Follow up on guesthouse needs including: Keeps the interior and exterior of the guesthouse clean at all times during working hours by sweeping, mopping and cleaning, Prepares/lays beds on a daily basis, ensure that the toilets and bathrooms of the guesthouse are kept very clean and sterilized, floor and wall tiles mopped to maintain the tidiness, ensure that all the bed sheets that have been used are washed, sterilized, ironed and packed for future use, maintain hygiene inside the guesthouse, kitchen and the surrounding environment.
· Other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to all Mercy Corps Policy and Staff Safety
Reports Directly to: Logistic Officer
Works Directly with: Operation staff and Available staff
Knowledge and Experience
· Preferred experience working with NGO organizations preferred.
· Ability to work as a part of team and individually.
· Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and nationalities.
· A working knowledge of Kurdish, Arabic and English is desired.
· Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures
Success Factors
· Conscientious with as excellent sense of judgment.
· Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks.
· Willingness and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
· Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate with project personnel.
