VACANCY: Radio Operator
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is a neutral and independent international humanitarian organization, which assists and protects victims of armed conflicts and other situations of violence. The ICRC is currently looking for staff for its support operations in Iraq.

Duty Station: Iraq – Kirkuk Sub - Delegation
Reports to: Radio Operator Supervisor
Duration of Contract: Six-Months Fixed Term Contract (Replacing a radio staff on unpaid leave)

Objective:
The Radio Operator must ensure the work of the Radio Department efficiently and effectively by operating the ICRC’s telecommunication equipment. S/he maintains radio contact and telecommunications between sites, vehicles and people so that the Sub-delegation can follow field and travel-related movements in accordance with field trip procedures and security rules. The successful candidate will need to be an enthusiastic, flexible, committed, and a resourceful person who can support the Line manager to run the ICRC’s Radio Room. The successful candidate will need to deliver to a high standard, be resilient and have a positive “can do” attitude
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Radio Operator Supervisor the incumbent will undertake the following responsibilities:
- Organizes and runs the radio room in the assigned location and ensures smooth communication flows between sites, vehicles, and people.
- Monitors daily movements, maintaining an overview of precise location information of all staff (including contact details) in the field and shuttle movements (including visitors, Passengers, or consultants when relevant).
- Ensures constant contact with people moving in the field and takes appropriate action as stipulated under security rules and internal guidelines.
- Maintains information flow on security-related issues.
- Updates lists of field movements and messages transmitted.
- Ensures the transportation of material goods between sites is correctly handled. He/she also ensures that the pouch is correctly sealed, and information is registered and communicated for transportation.
- Ensures that all telecommunication materials function well, conducting equipment checks and requests necessary repairs or preventive maintenance
- Keeps Sub-Delegation Management of daily field movements, informing them of planned trips, and alerts them to any changes and/or incidents.
Education and Professional Experience required:
- High school/Diploma or Vocational training in electronics/ IT or relevant former experience in related field.
- Good command (spoken and written) of English and Arabic.
- Good computer knowledge.
