Description

Context:

IOM supports the Ministry of Health in strengthening the health sector in Iraq, working closely with the Departments of Health at the governorate level, UN agencies, and other health actors.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and Head of Migration Health, and the direct supervision of the Migration Health Coordinator for Public Health Information Systems and Data Analytics, the successful candidate will be responsible for analysis, interpretation, and write-up of data collected through MHD activities, assisting with the development of training content, and assisting with any other research-related requests to better inform MHD programming.

Core Functions / Responsibilities

  1. Analyze, interpret, and write up findings from quantitative and qualitative data collected from various health projects within MHD (including but not limited to: health facility screening data, household health assessments, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, surveys, community health programming, etc.)
    • Contribute to data analysis plans
    • Train enumerators on data collection
    • Supervise enumerators, provide on the job support, and troubleshoot
    • Regularly review and clean collected data
    • Develop cleaned and annotated code and syntax used for data analysis
    • Conduct data analyses and write up results
    • Consolidate results and findings and write reports
    • Contribute to the creation of various information products for dissemination within MHD, IOM Iraq, and externally
  2. Assist with any other research-related requests to better inform MHD programming assigned by the supervisor

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results

  • Cleaned and annotated code and syntax for data analyses
  • Training of enumerator staff
  • Written reports for analyzed data, including consolidated results and key findings

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

 

Education & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, medicine, nursing, health sciences or health-related field with at least 2 years of professional experience.

Experience

  • Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Arabic/Kurdish is an advantage.
  • Experience in the health sector is required.
  • Experience in research is preferred.

Languages

  • Fluency in English language is required.
  • Working knowledge in Arabic language is an advantage.
