Description

PURPOSE OF DIVISION:

 

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international relief and development charity which envisages a caring world where people unite to respond to the suffering of others, empowering them to fulfil their potential. We are an independent Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in the UK in 1984 .  Working in 47 countries, we promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease. We also respond to disasters and emergencies, helping people in crisis. Islamic Relief provides support regardless of religion, ethnicity or gender and without expecting anything in return.

Islamic Relief’s (IR) has been working in Iraq for more than 14 years. IR was on the ground throughout the military incursions and is one of the few aid agencies that continued working during and after the 2003 war. 

Islamic Relief Worldwide Iraq is implementing several projects in the sector of Food, WASH, Health, Education, and shelters.

 

Job Responsibility:

·        Transport IR-Iraq staff, visitors, documents and                       goods/materials to designated destinations when                     officially approved

·        Ensure the safety and security of the passengers, the               goods and the vehicle

·        Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs of           repair and general maintenance/service

·        Respect the local traffic regulations and the IR-Iraq                   logistical, drivers and vehicle policies at all times

·        Maintain the logbook for all trips

·        Maintain the vehicle in proper operating condition at all             times, including keeping the vehicle clean, ensuring                 enough fuel, checking the technical state etc.

·        In liaison with the line manager, arrange for repairs and           servicing

·        Ensure the assigned vehicle has all the necessary                     documents and equipment

·        Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops

·        Ensure the assigned vehicle is always in good working               condition and meets IR-Iraq safety and security                       standards

·        Facilitate movements of personnel and goods

·        Be flexible to work during the day and night based on               the allocated shift which includes the following: 08:30               a.m to 4:30 p.m; 04:00 p.m to 12:00 a.m; 12:00 a.m             to  08:00 a.m.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

EDUCATION/TRAINING Required:

  • Diploma degree or Higher.
  • Any related certificates or training

 

Professional Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience from working as a Driver in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Some knowledge of English

 

Functional Competencies (Required):

  • Geographical area knowledge
  • Fluency in Arabic and Kurdish languages

 

 PROBLEM SOLVING (Thinking Environment)

  • Ability to deal with complex situation and solve issues and problems
