
Context/Reporting line:
Under the general guidance of the MHPSS Programme Coordinator, the overall supervision of the National MHPSS Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of the Senior MHPSS Assistant (Integration) in close coordination with the Senior Project Assistant-TRD, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the integrated services/ activities for the Graduation Approach Project by performing the following functions and responsibilities:
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Participate in the continuous needs assessment component of the MHPSS integrated services graduation approach project, visiting GA families, facilitating group discussions in the communities targeted under the project, and delivering written reports based on that input.
- Participate in the development and implementation of activity plans in close collaboration with the Senior MHPSS Integration Assistant.
- Provide basic individual counseling to beneficiaries as needed.
- Refer beneficiaries to other service providers as needed.
- Prepare and conduct peer support groups, focus group discussions, and MHPSS awareness-raising sessions.
- Offer Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) and emotional support to families in case of sudden or ongoing emergencies.
- Ensure that hardcopy and electronic information systems are maintained, especially the important notes related to key monitoring and implementation.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the line supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Educational Psychology, or other relevant social sciences from an accredited academic university or institution with two years of relevant professional experience, or;
- High school diploma with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Experience working in the humanitarian or development sector
- Experience in mental health, psychosocial support and capacity building programs.
- Experience in capacity building for local NGOs or social programmes is a strong advantage.
- Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
