SWEDO is a Swedish non-profit, non-political, non-religious development aid organization that was founded in 1991 in Stockholm, Sweden. Having continuously operated in the Kurdistan Region ever since, SWEDO’s main priorities of work are construction and infrastructure activities, refugee and IDP initiatives, health, water, sanitation and hygiene, and capacity building.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish connection with communities and mobilize community members to engage in Agricultural activities;
- Assist the Communication with Project officer in coordination with local authorities, formal and informal, as well as Mukhtar focal points in each area, establishing and maintaining positive relationships;
- Keep the community informed and updated about the projects and disseminate information accordingly;
- Participate and assist in the organization of project events (practical trainings and workshops on collaboration between the local actors and communities, consultations with communities, mobilization of community members and leaders, etc.);
- Community mobilization and facilitating community dialogue on Farming and Agricultural activities;
- Engagement and supporting committee’s activities, meeting, training, following up and reporting.
- Engage in project monitoring activities as relevant;
- Respond and adjust to a flexible activity scheduling, logistical constraints related to public space management, or social dynamics involving the community and its expectations;
- Assist in the design and planning of capacity-building trainings for local Farmer, agricultural service providers, and local authorities;
- Draft status reports, including a narrative analysis of trends, summary of activities, identified challenges and needs, with photos when possible;
- Conduct frequent field visits to the project’s activity sites to collect quantitative data;
- Ensure that collected data for M&E purposes are handled in the proper way and according to methods and via tools designed and implemented by M&E;
- Understand all aspects of each activity he/she monitors and identify areas of improvement and strengths;
- Ensure that activities are carried out according to policies and the correct procedures are followed throughout the time of project implementation;
- Identify any apparent issues in the program and report them to M&E officer.
- Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Engineering, Sociology, Political science, Social studies, or any relevant education background;
- At least one year experience in the same position or monitoring field;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook email;
- Fluency in Arabic Language, English is a plus;
- Time management skills and effective problem-solving skills required;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work with both community members as well as local authorities in a sensitive and respectful manner, and ensuring that all community members are represented;
- Willingness to work in all areas of Basra Governorate;
- Must work well within ethnically or religiously diverse groups;
- Team-building skills, able to effectively mobilize and motivate both staff and volunteers.
