Job Summary:
The Project Officer will lead the on-ground implementation of the "Empowering Women for Climate Resilience in Dhi Qar " project implemented by Women Empowerment Organization in partnership with Tearfund. The project focuses on enhancing women’s financial literacy, building climate resilience, and increasing women’s representation in media advocacy. Key responsibilities include organizing community dialogues, workshops, and training sessions on climate resilience, financial literacy, and women’s empowerment, while fostering relationships with local stakeholders. The officer will be responsible to implement all activities, monitor project progress, and ensure timely delivery of outputs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in project implementation, a strong understanding of climate resilience, and equality between men and women.
 
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the implementation of the "Empowering Women for Climate Resilience in Dhi Qar" project, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to the planned schedule.
· Coordinate community dialogues, workshops, and capacity-building sessions focused on financial literacy, climate resilience, and women’s empowerment.
· Facilitate the formation and operation of women-led savings groups to enhance economic resilience and resource management.
· Develop and deliver training for women journalists to improve their reporting on climate resilience and gender-sensitive issues.
· Foster partnerships with local stakeholders, including women’s groups, schools, community leaders, and environmental organizations.
· Supervise the Project Assistant and provide guidance on project activities.
· Collect data, monitor progress, and prepare detailed reports on activity and progress.
· Support the creation and dissemination of advocacy campaigns focused on climate resilience, gender equality, and women’s leadership.
· Ensure activities align with WEO’s organizational goals and donor requirements, while maintaining quality and timely implementation.
· Troubleshoot project challenges, offering solutions to ensure smooth execution.
 
 
 
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
· Minimum 3 years of experience in project implementation, especially in women's empowerment, environmental sustainability, or similar fields.
· Strong understanding of climate resilience and equality principles.
· Proven ability to coordinate with diverse stakeholders, including local community groups, schools, and media.
· Experience in facilitating training and workshops on climate resilience, financial literacy, or related topics.
· Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Fluency in Arabic and English.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
