Background to the People in Need (PIN)

 

Background:

People in Need (PIN) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance in over 20 countries worldwide. Formed in 1992 in the Czech Republic, PIN has grown to be the biggest organization of its kind in post-communist Europe, providing relief where it is needed, and empowering civil society at home and abroad.

PIN is maintaining a strong presence in Iraq, and has gradually extended its activities across the Governorates of Ninewa, Salah Al-din, Kirkuk and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Typical recipients of our aid are internally displaced persons, returnees, and people who survived the fighting near their homes and meet the pre-defined criteria of vulnerability.

Apart from humanitarian aid, PIN is currently working on long-term programmes supporting restoring livelihoods, education, access to water and hygiene. These programmes should facilitate people´s return to their original homes and support the stabilisation process after the defeat and removal of IS.

General Description of Scope of Service:

PIN is implementing a UNDP funded project working on Employment Promotion through Skills Development and Vocational Training in Kirkuk Governorate. The PIN cooperation with UNDP in Iraq provides support to vulnerable groups in Iraq will training 200 beneficiaries, including youth and women, to enhance their skills. This is achieved through offering tailored vocational training programs in Kirkuk Governorate.

Trainer is required for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration workshop during the project implementation.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vocational training, sewing workshop for youth.
  • Train beneficiaries in the basics of sewing application techniques.
  • Conduct a workshop, facilitate any relevant art activities in the area of intervention.
  • Organize the practical part of the workshop with pre-organizing the venue.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to vocational training expert and the TVET
  • Teaching women and girls how to work with fabrics of all kinds, with a commitment to using materials and colors that suit the culture and context.
  • Teaching women and girls basic sewing details and how to take measurements using measuring tape.
  • Teaching women and girls how to cut cloth to make different models.
  • Teaching women and girls how to use sewing machine.
  • Teaching women and girls the installation of buttons in different ways.
  • Using Embroidery hoops and frames for satin ribbon embroideries.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationships with partner and other sector staff.

Timeline:

The training timeframe is 60 days, with 7 hours allocated per day.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completed high school diploma/certificate with 4 years of relevant.
  • Thorough understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards applicable to residential wiring projects.
  • Good Skills in embroidery and knitting are.
  • Good skills in decoration
  • Experience working with diverse and multicultural communities
  • Ability to plan and work in a fast-paced and -changing context with flexibility to change plans and methods to suit changing needs and circumstances as required.
  • Experience with NGOs and organizational work is an advantage. Familiarity with the organization's general rules and regulations, commitment to neutrality, and safeguarding practices throughout project activities is essential.
  • Fluency in Arabic and basic knowledge of Kurdish and Turkmen
  • Strong experience in delivering training sessions.
  • Excellent and innovative skills in capacity building.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment and flexible with revising plans, as and when needed.
  • Ability to lead and communicate effectively with team members.
