Title:  Project Assistant

Reports to:  Program Director

Location: Ramadi, Iraq

Travel:  50%               

 

The Near East Foundation (NEF) is seeking applicants for a Project Assistant to be based in Ramadi, Iraq. For over 100 years, NEF has worked to build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. Its programs are organized around three themes: Inclusive Economic Development, Climate-resilient Development, and Stabilization and Peacebuilding.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The Project Assistant will perform a variety of functions related to field activities to support project implementation and operations. The supervisor will define general work objectives and provide necessary advice and guidance.

 

The Project Assistant will keep frequent internal contacts with ABWA project staff to exchange information, to establish understanding of respective needs; to ensure provision of services and resolution of problems and with the external contacts generally with officials of national and international institutions, community leaders, local population and Implementing Partners (IPs).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Under the supervision of the Program Director and in close collaboration with the ABWA project Technical Specialists, the Project Assistant will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in implementation of project activities.
  • Coordinate with relevant public departments and implementing partners for project related approvals and activities when required.
  • Draft routine correspondence for project implementation.
  • Assist in procurement and contracting.
  • Assist in organizing project related meetings, trainings and events in Anbar.
  • Administer contracts with service providers, interpreters and experts.
  • Maintain continuous line of communication with country-office in Baghdad on a daily basis.
  • Ensure smooth exchange of information respectively between partners and program beneficiaries, and the community.
  • Contribute to ongoing field assessments and data collection and entry as/when required.
  • Provide information and advice for beneficiaries and walk ins in the Siraj center on existing services.
  • Compile relevant information on available services in assigned location.
  • Support other project activities as needed.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications and Requirements

 

  • University degree in Social Sciences or any other relevant degree;
  • Minimum of two-year experience in community mobilization in international NGOs;
  • Familiar with Report Writing;
  • Familiar with the cultural, socio-economic and political environment in Anbar.
  • Knowledge of basic IT tools, in particular MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
